JUAN BELL | PAINT BRANCH ’21
Bell runs the show well from the lead guard spot. He’s a crafty paint getter who can score, facilitate, and defend. Much of the onus to initiate offense rests upon Bell’s shoulders, and for the most part, he’s been able to deliver the goods.
DAOUDA DEMBELE | SPRINGBROOK ’21
Dembele is a long, athletic forward who is a terror on the boards. He can block shots, switch onto smaller opponents, and score efficiently around the basket. If Springbrook hopes to make a run, Dembele will have to be locked in and playing at a high-level.
JAO ITUKA | GAITHERSBURG ’21
Ituka has put up huge numbers in his time with the Trojans. He is one of the area’s most elite scorers and probably has a higher usage rate than anyone you will see in this tournament. Can Ituka lead Gaithersburg back to Xfinity after a one-year hiatus?
FANI LEWIS | ELEANOR ROOSEVELT ’22
Lewis has emerged as a key rotation player this season for Coach Brendan O’Connell. He’s a lockdown defender who can handle the ball and initiate the offense. Lewis could be an x-factor if Roosevelt wins it all.
KORDELL LEWIS | RICHARD MONTGOMERY ’21
A pit-bull type defender who prides himself on outworking others, Lewis sets the tone for this RM team on the defensive end. He’s a good rebounding guard who thrives in transition where he likes to attack the rim or kick it out to his shooters.
IYAN JOHNSON JR. | KENNEDY ’22
Kennedy is enjoying a fine season, and Johnson’s contributions have been key to his team’s success. He’s a quick guard who is confident in his handle and can get downhill with relative ease. Johnson is also a plus defender who competes on that end of the floor as well.
WILL MARGARITES | WOOTTON ’21
Margarites has thrived as the primary ball-handler in his first year at Wootton. He’s a skilled point guard who can run the offense, but also knows when it’s time to get a bucket.
RYAN PRATHER JR. | CLARKSBURG ’21
Prather is a big wing who has put up big numbers all season long. Not only is he a prolific scorer from all three levels, but he is also a high-level rebounder who works hard defensively. If Clarksburg wants to reach their full potential, Prather will need to be playing his best ball.
KADEN RICHARDSON | CHURCHILL ’22
Richardson is an athletics guard with a nice skillset. He’s a talented shot-maker who attacks the rim with aggression but is also a good rebounder, defender and communicator.
PHIL STUBIN | WALTER JOHNSON ’21
Stubin is a reliable playmaker who is the catalyst for his team offensively. He can play on and off the ball, showcasing the ability to score or create for others consistently.
TREY THOMAS | WISE ’22
Thomas enjoyed a monster sophomore year in which he was among the area’s leaders in scoring. He is a big guard who can do a bit of everything. Look for Thomas to continue his breakout run as Wise looks like they will be a tough out in this tournament.
ALFRED WORRELL JR. | BLAIR ’21
Worrell, another one of the area’s top scorers, is another one of this season’s top breakout performers. He’s a strong wing who can score from anywhere on the court and plays with a ton of aggressin. Blair has surpassed the expectations of many this season, and Blair’s play has been a huge reason why.
JEFF WOMACK | BOWIE ’22
Womack has been one of the best perimeter players on a sneaky-good Bowie team. The DeMatha transfer is still scratching the surface but can impact the game on both ends with his ability to score and guard multiple positions on the perimeter.
