Teams that are in the Guy Gibbs region are: (3) Longmont, (6) Skyline, (11) The Classical Academy, (14) Conifer, (19) Widefield, (22) Steamboat, (27) Wheat Ridge, (30) D’Evelyn, (35) Palisade, (38) Canon City, (43) Mitchell, (46) Eagle County.
Longmont – Ryan Schneider
Longmont enters the 4A playoffs as the number three seed after going 20-3 in the regular season. They have a well balanced team with a number of different players contributing on a nightly basis. Schneider is the senior leader in the backcourt who averaged: 12.7 PPG, 2.9 APG, 2.3 RPG, 1.7 SPG. He shoots the ball well from the foul line at 76% on the year (82/108), as well as 58% from two-point range (71/123).
Skyline – Adrian Compian & Gage Robertson
Skyline enters the playoffs as the number six seed after going 18-5 on the year and 12-4 in league play. They are lead by Compian and Robertson in the backcourt. Robertson is a senior who averaged: 12.6 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.3 SPG and is a veteran player who has seen major varsity minutes since his sophomore year. He is a guard that can score from all three levels of the court, his 12.6 points per game is second on the team and ended the season scoring double digits in their last five games. Compian is a junior who averaged: 11.4 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 2.3 APG, 2.0 SPG and is another threat from the guard position that can score from all three levels. He played in twenty-four games last season and has continued to improve.
The Classical Academy – Micah Lamberth
The Classical Academy enters the playoffs as the eleven seed, going 17-5 on the year and 12-3 in league play. Lamberth is the senior leader in the backcourt and has good size at 6’4, he averaged: 15.0 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 3.8 APG, 3.1 SPG. He is a player that has been a major contributor for the Titans ever since his sophomore year where he played in twenty-four games and averaged 9.1 points per game. He does most of his work from inside the three-point arc, shooting 56% from two-point range (111/198). He has scored double digits in the last ten games entering the playoffs, his 15 points per game and 3.8 assists per game leads the team.
Confier – Landon Wallace & Elijah Cook
Conifer had a strong year, going 18-5 and 7-0 in league play which put them on top and enter the playoffs as the number fourteen seed. They are led by a talented backcourt in Wallace and Cook, Wallace averaged: 9.3 PPG, 10.9 APG, 6.1 RPG, 4.1 SPG on the year and his 10.9 assists per game ranks him third in the nation (finished third last year as well) and first in the state. He is one of my favorite guards to watch who leaves it all out on the court each time. Cook is the shooting guard in the backcourt who benefits from playing with the top passer in the state, he averaged: 14.5 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.9 SPG, shooting 47% from distance (59/126). Last year he finished at 41% from behind the arc (59/143). He is also crafty inside the arc with strong handles.
Widefield – Tim Mewborn
After finishing the regular season at 15-8 and 12-4 in league, Widefield enters the playoffs as the number nineteen seed. They are led in the backcourt by senior Mewborn who averaged: 14.1 PPG, 3.4 APG, 3.0 RPG, 2.2 SPG on the year. He is second on the team in points per game and leads them in assists with his 3.4 APG. He is a threat from all three levels on the court and is shooting 49% from two-point range (83/170).
Wheat Ridge – Alex Morales & Westin Miller
Wheat Ridge finished the regular season at 13-10 and 8-4 in league which was tied for second. Morales is the senior leader in the backcourt who averaged: 17.2 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.3 SPG and is a threat from every level. He is shooting 37% from deep (52/139) and 53% from two-point range (90/171). He has scored double digits in twenty of the twenty-three games so far entering the playoffs. Miller is a junior guard for the Farmers who averaged: 11.3 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.5 SPG shooting the ball extremely well this year at 46% (58/125) which leads the team.
Canon City – Seth Newton & Josh Rall
Canon City ended the year at 11-11 going 6-9 in league play, entering the playoffs as the thirty-eighth seed and are a young team with only one senior on the roster. They are led by their junior backcourt in Newton and Rall, Newton has good size at 6’4 that averaged: 18.8 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 5.4 APG, 2.0 SPG, 1.8 BPG. His 18.8 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game both lead the team this year. He is shooting the ball well from deep, at 37% on the year (51/139). Rall averaged: 17.6 PPG and 2.5 RPG, both guards do the majority of their damage from inside the three-point arc but will keep the defense honest from deep. Rall shot 44% from two-point range on (92/210).
Eagle County – Carlos Sanchez & Keegan Garvey
Sanchez a junior was second on the team in scoring this year, he averaged: 10.8 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 3.2 APG, 1.9 SPG shooting 55% from two-point range during the regular season. Garvey is one of the senior leaders on the team and leads them in scoring this year at 12.1 PPG to go along with 3.6 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.4 SPG on the season. He is shooting 40% from deep on the year (66/164) and is a volume shooter. He is a strong rebounder for his size at the guard position.
