#1 Sky View: Sky View is at it again as Sam Phipps and Mason Falslev anchor the team to try an repeat as State Champions again. Mason (University of Utah) is one of the front-runner for the Mr. Basketball award and it has been earned. Mason is scoring 20 points a game and adding 7 rebounds and 5 assist. Mason has only been help to single digits in scoring 9 times in 4 years. He is gong to be tough to stop. Sam on the other hand is that player that doesn’t need to score a bunch to alter the game. He blocks shots and puts a lot of pressure on the interior. Sam can easily go off for 20 plus as well.
#2 Dixie: Dixie has the depth and the height to compete with anyone in any classification. Isaac Finlinson and Noah Lemke make it hard for teams as they will take what you give them. Dixie is quick to go to their 4 corners set and Isaac and Noah have this lob connection that sure looks fun. Isaac is averaging 16 a game and Noah is putting up 11 a game. They look like they’re the right team that can give the top team a run for their money.
#3 Ridgeline: Although Ridgeline is one of the top seeds they have been flying under the radar all year as they have quietly put together a great resume as they have beaten the likes of Sky View and Woods Cross. Kaden Cox has hit 67 three-pointers this year and he looks to be picking it up. They have four other players that can cause damage which makes them difficult to prepare for.
#4 Cedar City: With one of the more skilled front-lines in 4A Cedar has the size to give teams problems. Dallin Grant can do it inside and out. Dallin is one of those prospects that has the skills to turn it on and have a monster game. He can hit the long ball and has a lot of skill on the block on a face-up or with his back to the basket.
#6 Juan Diego: The Soaring Eagle is lead by junior point guard Talon Valdes who is scoring at an alarming pace. He had 28 in his last game and he will need to have that or more to make it to the next round. In order for them to advance they will need more than one player scoring in double-figures.
# 8 Hurricane: Hurricane is battle tested and they can get hot from the outside. PG Bryce Thomas is tough as nails. He is fast and shifty with the ball. He is pesky off the ball. He is a great on ball defender. If they can hit the long ball and bother the player with the ball they could cause an upset.
#12 Desert Hills: Mason Chase is an athletic wing that will have to spark his team if they want to complete another upset. They are familiar with most of the teams left and they could concoct a formula to have success. They will need to pick the tempo up to get teams out of sink.
#10 Green Canyon: With an upset win Green Canyon looks to do it again. With three players that have hit more than 40 three-pointers they have a chance. They will need to do it by comity. McKay Yorgeson might have to go off for multiple three-pointers.
