With the FHSAA regional tournament gearing up this week and the SIAA playoffs upon us, here is the second part of the 2020 unsigned sleepers list.
AJ Staton (West Oaks)
Buffalo, Kansas City, UNF, Louisiana Tech, Southern Illinois, Appalachian State, DePaul, Illinois State and Northeastern have all offered 2020 6’5″ guard AJ Staton. A transfer from Blanche Ely, Staton has been super important to the success at West Oaks this season. A talented high IQ point man, he controls the floor, dishes the ball out, shoots it well and can do plenty as an edgy defender. Look for Staton to make his name known at the next level and come in and compete right away.
Khalil Shaheed (Surge Christian)
Committed to Evansville a few months ago, 2020 6’4″ guard Khalil Shaheed went from Oldsmar Christian to Surge Christian and has been playing at a high level. A pure athlete who is packed with burst and speed, Shaheed can hurt you from the mid-range and as a key attacker. I like his ability to fly down the floor. With his recruitment open again, he earned an offer from Kansas City on Tuesday and has offers from FAU, Bethune Cookman, James Madison, Stetson, Morgan State, IUPUI and Elon out for him. Shaheed is only going to get better as he fits the mold of a collegiate energy guy already.
Logan West (Andrew Jackson)
Perhaps one of the most underrated and undersized power forwards in Florida, 2020 6’6″ Andrew Jackson forward Logan West is someone who can do damage in college right now. A strong player, he is someone who flourishes inside as a slasher and is active as a shot blocker, rebounder and tip-back guy. West would do really well at the Division II or NAIA level in the fall.
Mekhi Perry (Land O’ Lakes)
Anyone who needs a spot up shooter who is both confident and intelligent, then look no further than 2020 6’1″ Land O’ Lakes guard Mekhi Perry. Averaging 21.6 PPG and 5.0 RPG this season, he was a man amongst boys at the Sun Bash with two 30-point games and a 25-point outing on the final day. Perry can really shoot it at a high clip and his ability to create for himself is a huge asset. He deserves a shot with a Division II or NAIA squad.
Michael Caswell (Paxon)
Paxon is packed with athletes and there is no surprise the Jacksonville squad is 22-5 this season and the No. 1 overall seed in Region 1 of Class 4A. 2020 6’1″ guard Michael Caswell is averaging 8.7 PPG alongside a very well connected squad. He had a highlight reel dunk in the SUN championship at the Sun Bash tournament last month in Tampa (VIDEO HERE). A smart and heads up player, Caswell would do well at an NAIA or Division III program next fall.
