Down below are some of the senior point guards that colleges should follow as the playoffs begin!
AJ Walters- 6’0/Great Bridge. AJ Walters has put together a productive senior season that sees his team playing its way into tournament time. A strong lefty, Walters is a capable scorer on multiple levels, as evidenced by his recent string of 20+ point games. He can finish at the rim with crafty layups, he can get up floaters or create space for a mid range jumper, and he also has a solid deep range ball. Walters is also a high level student, meaning he is a safe prospect for any school to look at in terms of academics. Look for Walters to show off his scoring prowess in order to help his team advance in the postseason.
Gilbert Brown– 6’1/Menchville. Gilbert Brown plays on an extremely talented team that has multiple college level guards. So, what stands out about him? The easy answer is his defense. Brown was recently featured in an article by Jack Herron as one of the premier perimeter defenders in the area and that is no exaggeration. Brown loves to inflict intense pressure on whichever guard he is tasked with harassing. On top of his defense, though, is a drive to win. Brown is a threat to score with his handles and athleticism, as well as remaining a willing passer. Schools should look to see just exactly what Brown can offer as he shows off more than just brilliant defense in his teams playoff run.
Kahlil Oden- 5’10/Indian River. Kahlil Oden and his younger brother make up one of the most exciting back courts in the 757. This excitement has also translated to wins as Indian River has one of the better records in the area. Oden might be the point guard that needs the post season the most as he looks to boost his stock. Gifted with quickness and tight handles, Kahlil scores with ease despite being shorter than most of his opponents. On top of this, he knows how to feed the hot hand and pass up a good shot for a better shot. Look for Oden to take advantage of the extra games in order to show just how good he really can be for a college team.
Jamal Madison– 5’10/Norview. Coaches from around the area and fellow writers agree on one thing: Madison is an absolute competitor. While not the tallest, Madison is strong and quick, combining both traits to wreak havoc on defense. On top of this, Madison is a consistent shooter and strong finisher, blowing by his match up to finish at the rim. Norview is one of the best teams in the playoffs this year, and will be one of the favorites to win. With this in mind, they will also have a target on their back, which gives Madison an opportunity to show just how good he is each and every night.

Jordan Battle– 6’2/Norfolk Collegiate. Jordan Battle has put up numbers all year, which has put him in a position to potentially win player of the year. As a balanced guard, Battle puts up numbers across the board, averaging 25 points, 7 boards and 7 assists. Perhaps what is most important for Battle in these playoffs is proving that he is a true winner. Numbers are awesome, but colleges should also watch just how competitive Jordan Battle is each and every second he spends on the court. With this drive, look for a push from Norfolk Collegiate to win a title, spearheaded by this monster of a lead guard.
