MVP: Brennan Orf (Westminster): The 6’3 2020 forward was a dominant force in the paint with 23 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots. He really got rolling in the extra sessions when he scored on several tough takes to the basket in every traffic.
Best Senior: Brennan Orf (Westminster) – See above
Best Junior: Isaiah Williams (Lutheran North) – The 6’2 shooting guard scored 13 points and came up big in the overtime periods. He scored on a coast to coast drive at the buzzer to send the game into the second overtime. He scored eight consecutive points on twisting drives and floaters.
Best Sophomore: Casen Lawrence (Westminster) – The 5’10 point guard scored 13 points and knocked down three 3-pointers, including the money ball in the last minute of the second OT to give WCA the lead to stay at 69-66.
Best Freshman: Kobi Williams (Westminster) – The 6’0 combo guard scored 10 points while displaying a lot of poise and moxie. He handled the ball quite a bit against Lutheran North’s pressure and he also hit two 3-pointers.
Best Shooter: Casen Lawrence (Westminster) – The smooth shooting 2022 guard knocked down three 3-pointers. He was face-guarded much of the night, but when he broke loose, he made it count.
Best Defender: Devyn Jones (Lutheran North) – The 5’10 2021 was a pest all evening with his on-ball pressure defense and constant ball hawking. He changed the pace of the game when he entered. He also darted into the passing lanes for steals.
Best Enforcer: Antonio Doyle (Lutheran North) – The Texas A&M football recruit recently joined the basketball team and the physical 6’4 230-pounder didn’t mind throwing his weight around.
Best Slasher: Caleb Thompson (Westminster) – The 6’3 2022 forward had a very productive game with 13 points and five rebounds. Most of his points came on strong drives to the basket to combat Lutheran’s pressure in the half court.
Best Clutch Shots: Jordan Smith (Lutheran North) – The 5’10 2020 guard scored 15 points and displayed his propensity for big shots by making two clutch buckets. He hit a double clutch 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. He hit another big 3-pointer in the first OT when his team was trailing by three points.
