Saint Francis stuns Bellarmine 46-43.
After being down 15 pts in the 1st half. Isaiah Kerr 6’2 2022 combo guard led the Lancers with 15 pts, 6 rebounds, and 4 stls, while his teammate, 6’2 2022 Harlan Banks a guard continually beat his defender to the basket scored 11pts and was my pick for defensive player of the game. These two prospect helped lead a second half surge to upset the previously unbeaten Bells at home. Ryan Kiachian 6’9 2021 center for Bell had 15pts, 9 rebound and Quinn Denker 6’2 2020 guard added 9pts.
Santa Teresa Knocks off Piedmont Hills in O.T 53-51
Mahmoud Fofana 6’4 2020 wing has set himself apart from the rest of the players his league with a dominating performance. 20pts, 15 boards, and 8 blocked shots. For the Pirates Alijah Washington 6’3 2021 prospect continues to rise as he put the pirates on his back in the 4th and o.t scored 18pts in the loss. He’s not just a shooter anymore he can handle the ball and get to the rim.
Menlo blew past Woodside Priory 53-33
Cole Kastner 6’7 2020 who’s going to Virginia to play Lacrosse continues to make a case for 1st team All-NorCal. He scored 13 pts and snatched 5 rebounds in 3 qtrs for Menlo’s lopsided win. Woodside Priory has a couple of good underclassmen in Zachary Zafran 6’2 2021 guard, and 6’4 2023 Rostan Olama Abanda wing. Both players were aggressive and played with lots of hustle and desire in a losing cause.
Bellarmine bounces back to handle Mitty 68-56
Bellarmine put Tuesday’s upset loss to Saint Francis to rest on Friday with a come from behind victory. After trailing by 7 at the half. The Bells erased a 7pt deficit led by Quinn Denker, 6’2 2020 guard who has a shot at MVP in the tough WCAL with 17pts, and Kyle Lewis 6’4 2020 who’s finally looking to be aggressive with the ball scored 14 (12in the second half) pts, along with Ryan Kiachian 6’9 center 11pts 9 rebounds. Mitty’s Mike Mitchell 6’3 2021 point guard (Pepperdine) scored 23 pts, and 9 rebounds, while 6’3 2020 Marcus Greene had 13pts and Nigel Burris 6’6 2021 forward dropped 8.
De La Salle takes down San Ramon Valley 69-49
This was my first time seeing the Spartans play this season. Top NorCal prospects Jeremiah Dargan 6’4 2022 combo guard, had 2 pts and plays an all around balanced game with 5 rebs, and 4 asts, and good defense, Chris Bunch 6’6 2022 wing 4/4 from 3 in the first half finished with 16 pts. These two prospect are the main attraction for this team. Miles Daniel 6’1 2021 pt guard stole the show Saturday with 18 pts, Daniels might get overlooked by all the attention of the other two but he can play. He’s a capable guard who can readily get to the basket with speed and quickness. At 6’1 he’s got quick bounce, and finishes with either hand around the hoop. He’s a good on ball defender with lateral movement. I haven’t seen a prospect who enjoys playing the game as much as Noah Clifford 6’5 2022 forward who continues to improve his game. He does all the things that don’t show up in box scores, like being the first to the floor for loose balls, setting screens, and making good passes to teammates, plus taking charges. He hustled his way into a double double for the night. 12pts, 12 rebounds.
