Meyer Gives the Latest
Monroe 2021 forward Cade Meyer is currently the second-ranked junior in the state and holds three scholarship offers after being virtually unknown heading into the spring.
Meyer said two of those offers are currently standing out.
“I really like Green Bay and Valparaiso,” Meyer told Prep Hoops Wisconsin. “They fit me really well. They like versatile players who can play in the post and on the perimeter.”
Meyer also has an offer from UW-Milwaukee. At this time, high major interest is coming in from Wisconsin, Iowa, Marquette, and Iowa State.
The 6-foot-8 forward doesn’t have any unofficial visits set at this time, but has a handful in mind.
“I’ve been trying to visit South Dakota State and Southern Illinois,” he said. “I’ll visit Wisconsin more when I can and UW-Milwaukee. I also want to visit the schools who I have offers from.”
Meyer plans to play out July before making a decision.
“Depending on my relationship, if I feel like I’m a fit at a mid-major, then I’ll choose that,” he said. “But I’ve always wanted to play at the highest level possible. High major is the number one goal.”
Meyer is currently averaging just shy of 20 ppg this season.
Fuhrmann Looking at Three
One of the state’s top uncommitted class of 2020 guards, Reedsburg’s Will Fuhrmann has things pretty much narrowed down.
The senior said the three schools he’s still looking at are Cardinal Stritch, UW-La Crosse, and UW-Platteville.
One of the state’s most productive and all-around prospects, Furhmann is averaging 16.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 2.3 steals per game for the Beavers, who are 12-3 and one game back of first place in the Badger North Conference.
Abel Getting D1 and D2 Looks
Beaver Dam 2021 guard Nate Abel is currently in the midst of a breakout season. The junior is averaging 21.5 points per game for the Beavers in 2019-20.
Abel said he’s receiving Division 1 interest from North Dakota and Navy. He took an unofficial visit to Navy in October. Division 2’s Michigan Tech and Winona State are showing substantial interest as well.
Abel is currently the No. 38 ranked junior in Wisconsin’s 2021 class.
Thomas Still Weighing His Options
Last season, Karter Thomas appeared poised to play his way to a Division 2, perhaps even a Division 1 scholarship. However, a torn ACL sidelined his entire AAU season.
As a senior, the Oshkosh West senior guard has come back strong. Thomas is putting up 21.9 points per game in 2019-20, leading the Wildcats to a 6-5 record in a very tough Fox Valley Association.
Thomas listed North Dakota State, Lipscomb, Minnesota State-Moorehead, UW-Oshkosh, and Loras as the schools in the mix for his services. Thomas is also considering a Prep/JUCO stint next season and mentioned Bryant and Stratton as a potential destination as well.
