Westover HS Junior Guard Darius Jewell is a problem! He’s made nice strides since last season where he mostly was known for his ability to shoot the ball. This year he has not only gotten better with his shooting but also breaking down defenders and making plays off the dribble. He plays the game with a confidence that you have to love and although he is smaller in height, he has the toughness that you love to see that makes up for whatever he may lack in height. He finished with 29 Points to lead all scorers with four made treys.
Douglas Byrd HS Junior Guard Shawn Jones was a bright spot for the squad! The offensive production he brought to the squad helped his team to make a run to cut the lead some in the 2nd half. Although his 22 points weren’t the most efficient that we have seen, he was solid overall and showed some upside.
Westover HS Senior Forward Traymond Willis Shaw was solid! You pretty much know what you’re going to get from him on a regular basis. Good defense, finishing above the rim, blocking shots and even stepping outside the paint to knock down shots.
Douglas Byrd HS Junior Ladaryl Norwood has upside! Any time you see a player at 6’6 that can knock down the trey ball, it’s going to catch your attention. He’s got some work that he needs to do development wise over the next year and a half to become a small college prospect but if he works hard, it’s a possibility.
Westover HS Senior Guard Manas Drummond is a name small Colleges should be on! He’s been a consistent player for his team on both ends of the floor night in and night out. You won’t see him trying to do too much too often and he can be a very good defender when he’s locked in.
