Bobby Pettiford Jr. has hit another gear
The South Granville Vikings improved to 15-0 and 4-0 in conference play after getting a 93-59 victory over the Louisburg Warriors. Thanks to 2021 guard Bobby Pettiford Jr., the Vikings had no issue putting away Louisburg early with Pettiford putting up 15 of his 21 points in the first half. When he’s locked in and being aggressive getting to the paint, this South Granville squad is virtually unstoppable. Pettiford did well to set the pace every time he got the ball in his hands. Wake Forest was in attendance to see him play as well.
S. Granville defense is overwhelming
Louisburg was overwhelmed by South Granville’s pressure defense for much of the contest. They got within 10 points early in the second half, but turnovers by Kobe Jones and Pettiford proved to be enough to open up yet another run for the Vikings. They outscored Louisburg 49-29 in the second half to get a big win in the end. Unsigned senior wing Wy’kise Allen was another key cog with 20 points, being active in the paint and on the glass for South Granville. Now, the Vikings remain undefeated with two more conference matchups looming in the next few weeks.
Micah Jones dishes and scores his way to 19 points
Unsigned senior Micah Jones made good things happen when the ball touched his hands. He stood out with his ability to get to the free-throw line (6-of-6) and knock down the 3-pointer. He made three 3-pointers in the victory while assisting a few of his teammates on some big alley-oops in the first half.
Kobe Jones is a high-flying act
From the tip-off, unsigned wing Kobe Jones set the tone for South Graville with his high-flying dunks. Jones put up 10 points, all from within the paint, showing off his athleticism above the rim. He’s a prospect that’s gotten some looks from some local college programs in recent months.
Elijah Jamison stumbles a bit in loss
It was the first true roadblock this season for 2021 guard Elijah Jamison, as he scored a season-low 19 points in a tough defeat to the Vikings. He seemed a bit rushed in the beginning of the game and early foul trouble knocked him off his rhythm in the first half. He’ll look to bounce back in their next meeting on Feb. 4. Senior guard Ethan Wood also had 15 points on five 3-pointers.
