2020 6-5 F Zack Vickers – Cherokee
No. 9 Cherokee’s unsung hero in the Warriors’ best start since 2006-07 when Chris Singleton roamed the floor, Zack Vickers has been Coach Roger Kvam’s picture of consistency. Powered by star juniors Taihland Owens and Elijah Tucker, Vickers has been the gritty senior leader for the Warriors. Recently joining the 1,000-point club, Vickers is a hard-nosed inside-out post that makes winning plays. Vickers is rugged inside with solid post moves and the ability to finish through contact, but he also has enough finesse to step outside and consistently knock down three-point attempts. Vickers is a strong rebounder that high points caroms but maybe his most underrated attribute is his passing ability and court vision. Vickers is a rock-solid high school player that could give quality minutes right away at the right program.
2020 6-1 CG Demetrius Glenn – Hart County
A change of scenery has done Demetrius Glenn well as he has played an important role in No. 2 Hart County’s 20-1 campaign. Glenn has always been known as a dangerous off-guard with deep range, but his newfound role as point guard at Hart County has helped round out his game. Glenn is averaging over 9 points and close to 3 assists per game. School’s looking for a shooter with playmaking ability should take a peek at Glenn.
2020 5-10 PG Zawdie Jackson – Shiloh
A true dyed-in-the-wool point guard, Zawdie Jackson is a floor general out on the floor. Jackson has been a major producer since his freshman year in Gwinnett County. He’s a shifty guard that is smart with the ball. Jackson provides an offensive punch, exceling at finishing in the lane, but he’s often more concerned with getting his teammates involved. Wilberforce and Morehouse have offered and now JUCOs are showing interest.
2020 6-0 PG CJ Hines – Archer
No. 6 Archer’s rise into statewide contention has been predicated by team-basketball and unselfish play. The head of the snake has been point guard CJ Hines. Hines’ activity is apparent all over the floor, not just when he is scoring. Stuffing the stat sheet has become a regular occurrence for the guard that plays bigger than his size. His on-ball defense and his ability to get into the passing lanes is a strong suit. He could be in play at the D-II level sooner rather than later.
2020 6-2 PG Cliff Baskerville – GAC
Cliff Baskerville has learned under the likes of Hunter McIntosh (Elon) and Ben Sheppard (Belmont) and has successfully carried the torch his senior season at No. 6 GAC. Baskerville might not have the elite shooting of McIntosh or the length and playmaking of Sheppard, but he is a solid guard that can score the ball at every level. Baskerville has a high motor and does a lot for the Spartans whether it be rebounding, scoring or defending. Averaging over 18 points per game, Baskerville has steadily rose his stock this season.
2020 6-0 CG Titus Brown – Franklin County
A scoring-minded combo guard, Titus Brown has kept the momentum from last year’s breakout season. Brown scores at all three levels. He’s a good three-point shooter and is a sneaky-good finisher at the rim. He likes to use a probing dribble to attack defenses and is a good passer when he hits traffic. Brown is one of north Georgia’s best true-scorers.
2020 6-1 CG Micah Roebuck – Franklin County
The second head of the No. 10 Franklin County attack is Micah Roebuck. Roebuck is a little longer than Brown and is a little better defensively. Roebuck has handled more of the point guard duties to allow Brown more off-ball open looks. Roebuck’s favorite part of his arsenal is his jump shot. He gets very good elevation but can be a little streaky at times. He has gotten more consistent at attacking the rim and does a nice job of shielding the ball from would-be shot blockers.
