Lafayette Jeff snaps Fishers’ unbeaten streak
Coming into this game, Fishers was one of the hottest teams in 4A being undefeated in their first 12 games. That streak was snapped when a great Lafayette Jeff team came into town and beat the Tigers 68-65. This game went into overtime and had some great performances by Jeff’s junior SF Brooks Barnhizer (29 points) and Fishers’ sophomore PF Jeffrey Simmons (21 points). So now both teams each have only a 1 in the loss column halfway through the season and are both still in contentions for a state championship.
Bishop Luers beat Marion behind 3 18+ point performances
As most know that follow the Indiana High School basketball scene by now, Marion’s Jalen Blackmon was announced to be out indefinitely with a knee injury. While that is a without a doubt a factor in last night’s Bishop Luers’ victory over the Giants, 70-62, that should not take away from 3 outstanding, individual performances from the Knights. Prospects Jalen Causey (20 points), Naylon Thompson (19 points), and DeMarcus Hudson (18 points) all were the main reason why the Knights were able to get the win. Marion players like senior Jakylen Thomas will need to step-up in Blackmon’s absence.
Charlie Yoder continues to have an awesome senior season
Last night saw Westview defeat East Noble 57-51 in what was a close battle throughout. The story of that game was senior prospect Charlie Yoder having another solid night with a huge double-double of 27 points and 16 rebounds. Yoder has consistently been playing at a high level all season and is a big reason why the Warriors are 6-2 at the moment. With Yoder’s scoring consistency, Westview will continue to roll onto a possible state final.
