Top Players of the Week (Week 9)
My week ended with Memphis East and White Station going into overtime Saturday night, thanks to senior forward Kylan Haywood making two 3s down the stretch to force the overtime.
On Friday night, I saw senior forward Marcellus Brigham Jr. and junior point guard Kennedy Chandler fill up the stat sheet.
On Tuesday night, I saw FACS and ECS go into overtime.
So, here I am with my top performers of the week.
Kylan Haywood, Memphis East: The senior forward finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the Mustangs’ 74-71 overtime win over White Station. Haywood nailed a 3 at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime.
Duane Posey, Memphis East: Posey had 20 points and 11 boards against the Spartans. Terrance Jacobs Jr. and Tadarius Jacobs each finished with 10 points.
Amauri Abner, White Station: Abner led the Spartans with 20 points. Jacob Roberts added 19. Davon Barnes had 11 and Willie Foreman III provided 10.
Patrick Smith Jr., Goodpasture: The junior guard had 22 points, five assists, four steals and four rebounds against DCA.
Marcellus Brigham Jr., Briarcrest: The senior forward led the Saints with 22 points in their 71-50 win over Christian Brothers. Omari Thomas and Rodney Newsom each had 13 points.
Kennedy Chandler, Briarcrest: The junior point guard had 17 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds and six steals in the Saints’ win over the Purple Wave.
Reese McMullen, Christian Brothers: McMullen had 23 points against Briarcrest. Sophomore point guard Chandler Jackson added 13 points and eight rebounds.
Phillip Horton, Fayette Ware: Horton had 19 points, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks in the Wildcats’ 76-53 win over Millington. Harmonta Griggs added 20 points and four steals.
Horton had 22 points and six rebounds in a loss to Covington. Taki Walker had 12 points, six rebounds and five assists. Griggs added 11 points, four rebounds and three steals.
Decorian Payton, Center Hill: Payton had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the Mustangs’ 57-49 win over Saltillo. Kaeden Laws added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Zandon Haralson provided 11 points.
Corey Savage, FACS: Savage led the Crusaders with 16 points in their 66-45 win over Jackson Christian. Josh Ward added 13, and Daniel Egbuniwe finished with 11.
Jaylon Sanders, Collierville: Sanders had 23 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in a win over Kirby. He had 16 points three assists, two rebounds and one steal in a loss to Houston.
Kalib Brooks, Freedom Prep: The sophomore guard had 23 points, four rebounds and two assists in the 72-66 loss to Westwood. Bwerani Johnson Jr. had 29 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks.
Kelvin Campbell, Westwood: Campbell had 21 points and 11 rebounds in the Longhorns’ win over Freedom Prep. Amarion Jones added 20 points and seven assists.
Jayden Williams, FACS: Williams had 18 points in the Crusaders’ 64-57 overtime win over ECS. Egbuniwe had 14. Kobe Wilkes and Savage each finished with 10.
Kameron Jones, ECS: Jones led his team with 34 points against FACS. Hadden Burgess added 14. Jones had 31 points in the Eagles’ 91-81 win over Trinity Christian Academy. Grayson Saunier had 26, knocking down seven 3s in the first half. Burgess provided 15.
Jamari Jackson, PCA: Jackson had 33 points, five assists and four steals in the 99-76 win over KIPP. Damarion Jackson added 12 points, two assists and two steals. James Golden had 18 points, eight assists and four steals.
Ronnie Parrott, KIPP: Parrott had 26 points against PCA. Timarin Smith had 17.
Bobby Parks, Harding Academy: Parks had 22 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals in a win over Northpoint Christian. He had 28 points, 10 rebounds and two assists in a win over St. George’s.
Alex Anderson, Tipton–Rosemark Academy: The junior wing reached 1,000 career points this week.
Charterio Porter, Booker T. Washington: Porter led the Warriors with 31 points in their road win at Hamilton. Senior forward Trashun Marion added 20, and senior guard JC Johnson added 16.
Anthony Burks, Hamilton: Burks led the Wildcats with 17. Jaheim Collins had 15. Michael Garner added 14, and Dwayne Neal provided 12.
Alden Applewhite, Houston: The junior combo guard had 21 points in the Mustangs’ 77-53 win over Ridgeway. TJ Madlock added 18. Applewhite had 25 points in Houston’s 87-59 win over Collierville. Alex Marsh had 13 points. Mason Miller, Faizon Fields and Madlock all scored 11 points.
Matthew Schneider, Siegel: Schneider had 16 points in a 72-31 win over Rockvale. Zion Swader and Jaylan Wetzel each had 12 points.
