Top Players of the Week (Week 7)
This was a short week for me as I attended basketball games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Usually, I’m attend a game almost every night.
But, I was still able to catch a lot of action from talent in the state. I attended the Jack Jones Classic on Thursday and Friday and that event had solid players. I attended the Fayette Ware-Montgomery Bell Academy matchup on Saturday.
Here are the other top performers from this week:
Andersson Garcia, Hamilton Heights: The 6-foot-7 forward had 17 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks in the Hawks’ win over Arlington in the Memphis Hoopfest. Garcia was named MVP.
Alex Anderson, Tipton–Rosemark Academy: The junior wing had 18 points in the Rebels’ 50-37 win over Fayette Academy.
David Dixon, MAHS: Dixon, who played in his first game of the season, had 31 points and 19 rebounds in a 66-62 loss to St. Louis Christian in the Memphis Hoopfest.
Jalen Bo Montgomery, Lausanne: The senior combo guard had 22 points in a 70-59 win over Wooddale in the Memphis Hoopfest. Montgomery was named MVP.
Moussa Cisse, Lausanne: The 6-11 big man had 20 points, 16 rebounds and eight blocks against the Cardinals. Cisse had 31 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocks in a win over St. Louis Vashon.
AJ Dillworth, Lausanne: The freshman had 19 points against Wooddale.
Reese McMullen, Christian Brothers: The junior guard had 21 points in a loss to Christian Brothers (St. Louis, Missouri) in the first night of the Memphis Hoopfest.
Chandler Jackson, Christian Brothers: Jackson had 17 points and six rebounds Thursday night against Christian Brothers (St. Louis, Missouri). Harrison Kelly Harrison Kelly 6'0" | SG Christian Brothers | 2021 State TN added 10 points.
Kennedy Chandler, Briarcrest: Chandler had 25 points in the Saints’ win over Center Hill in the Next Level Up Tournament Championship game.
Jackson Francis and Will Montana, Montgomery Bell Academy: Francis and Montana each had 18 points in a 70-56 win over Fayette Ware. Freshman guard Marcel Reed and junior guard Miles Versa added 10 points apiece.
Harmonta Griggs, Fayette Ware: Griggs led the Wildcats with 17 points. Junior guard Tyler Fitzpatrick had 14 and senior guard Phillip Horton added 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Johnathan Lawson, Wooddale: Lawson had 36 points in the Cardinals’ loss to Lausanne.
Kyron Pleas, Olive Branch: The senior guard had 14 points in the ‘Quistors’ 63-59 win over Booker T. Washington in the Memphis Hoopfest. Pleas was named MVP.
Drew Williams, Hamilton Heights: Williams led the Hawks with 13 points in a win over Crestwood, Canada. Felix Okpara had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Garcia (MVP) added 10 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. Dominiq Penn added 10.
Zion Swader, Siegel: The junior guard had 12 points in a 74-45 win over Loudon County. Jaylan Wetzel added 11.
Patrick Smith Jr., Goodpasture: The junior guard had 20 points in a win over Cane Ridge, 21 points against Olentangy, 22 points in a win over Wilson Central and 15 points and seven assists in a win over Lipscomb Academy.
Duane Posey, Memphis East: Posey had 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting in a win over Marion (AR). The 6-6 forward took home MVP honors.
