There was talent from a lot of teams that hit the floor.
I was in attendance to watch the event and as usual, I came away with who I felt performed well.
Here are the top performers from Day 1 of the Jack Jones Classic:
Kennedy Chandler, Briarcrest: The junior point guard had 27 points in the Saints’ 71-56 win over Collierville. Chandler went 15 for 16 from the free throw line.
Tyler Harrington, Briarcrest: The senior shooting guard scored 21 points against the Dragons. The University of Memphis baseball commit knocked down five 3s.
Jaylon Sanders, Collierville: The senior guard led the Dragons with 19 points in their loss to the Saints.
Jordan Jenkins, Collierville: The junior guard had 11 points against Briarcrest.
T.J. Madlock, Houston: The junior point guard led the Mustangs with 21 points in their 57-52 loss to Gary West Side Leadership. Madlock made 13 of 20 free throws.
Mason Miller, Houston: Miller had the hot hand early, knocking down two 3s in the first quarter. He finished the night with 10 points.
Tre Davis, Lausanne: The eighth grader led the Lynx with 21 points in their 77-54 win over the Memphis Nighthawks. Davis made 6 3s.
Johnathan Lawson, Wooddale: The junior guard/forward had 24 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks in the Cardinals’ 53-44 win over Lee (Alabama).
Jalen Brown, Wooddale: This was probably Brown’s best performance since the start of the season against Hillcrest. He finished with 17 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Taye Fields, Lee: Fields led his team with 15 points.
Jacari Lane, Lee: The sophomore finished with 12 points.
Kingsbury had four players to score in double figures in its 87-77 loss to Dyer County. Ahmed Abdulahi led the Falcons with 22 points. Chauncey Holmes had 14. Caleb Jackson added 13 and Devin Jackson provided 12.
