Now, it’s time to wrap up this series in Northwest Ohio:
Sean Craig (2022) | 6-5 PF | Northview
Craig continues to state his case as, arguably, the best sophomore in the Toledo area. This season, he’s certainly the most productive at 20.8 points and 13.9 rebounds per game for the 6-6 Wildcats. Skilled face-up forward who can pass, shoot, or attack from the elbow. Improving outside shooter. Defends in space while being a standout rebounder, too.
CJ Hornbeak (2023) | 6-1 SG | Toledo St. John’s
We move from maybe Toledo’s top sophomore to, again arguably, the top freshman. Hornbeak is a confident scorer. He’s most effective coming downhill attacking the rim. Creative finisher. A streaky shooter that will steadily develop that part of his game. Hornbeak also makes good decisions and has a chance to become a full-time point guard down the line. Scores 9.5 points per game.
Khalil Luster (2022) | 5-4 PG | Lima Senior
Luster is a true floor general for the 10-1 Spartans, who rank No. 4 in our Division I OHSAA Power Rankings. Keeps everyone involved and able to hit shots if the defense loses him. Luster is also an elite point-of-attack defender given his elite quickness.
Jagger Landers (2022) | 6-6 C | Antwerp
Jagger Landers is the best sophomore in Northwest Ohio that you’ve never heard of. He’s a strongly built 6-foot-6 center with nimble feet and a good touch. He can score rolling to the basket or on post-ups. Tracks down rebounds. Antwerp is undefeated and proving to be a frisky Division IV team. Landers is averaging 18.4 points and 8.8 rebounds.
Brock Makrancy (2022) | 6-5 SF | Findlay
Makrancy requires a defender assigned specifically towards limiting his shooting opportunities. Otherwise, he’s going to crush you. He’s an elite outside shooter with his feet set and is thriving in his role as a floor-spacer. Makrancy also possesses upside as a skilled shot-creator who can hoist jumpers over the top of the defense.
Sean Millington (2022) | 6-2 SG | Southview
Millington is an efficient scorer who can shoot the rock and has good positional size. Comfortable scoring it in most areas of the floor. Flashes athleticism as a defender and in-traffic finisher. Left-handed player. Scoring 9.0 points per game for the 9-1 Cougars.
Ben Morrison (2022) | 6-2 SG | Rossford
Morrison ranks second in scoring, at 16.5 points per game, in the Northern Buckeye Conference. He is pretty quick out the triple threat, mostly creating shots in less than two dribbles. Upside as a primary ball-handler. Shoots it well.
Max Roth (2022) | 5-11 PG | Findlay
Roth is a sound point guard who can score it or take on a pass-first role. Displays athleticism in the open floor by beating opponents up the floor and finishing acrobatically. Provides spot-up shooting. Plus rebounder. The TRAC’s top sophomore scorer at 12.1 points per game.
