Anthony Sayles (Niles Notre Dame)
Current Ranking: #8
Sayles has been the top point guard in this class from the first time we ranked 2021 and he has widened the gap with his play as a junior. Sayles got injured and missed part of December, but when he has been on the court he has been dynamic as a scorer with his speed and athleticism. Fits the new age point guard with his ability to get downhill with his strength and push in the open floor. He is a better shooter than he is given credit for and an active defender.
Jaehshon Thomas (Whitney Young)
Current Ranking: #24
The state’s #2 2021 point guard transferred to Whitney Young after playing his first two years at Aurora Christian. Tough and physical lead guard that has a killer cross over which he uses setting up scores and assists. Playmaking guard that gets to the rim with athleticism.
Conor Enright (Mundelein)
Current Ranking: #25
This junior has already made an early commitment to attend Drake. The lead guard knocks down pull up jumpers like they are going out of style. Love his stop and pop game along with how he can pull up behind screens for threes. Also mixes in some drives on spin moves and converts with scoop shots.
Kimahri Wilson (Carmel)
Current Ranking: #26
Wilson is among the more exciting playmaking guards in the state. Quick and shifty with the ball on a string. He makes plays with the ball in his hands both as a passer and scorer. Explosive burst allows him to get in the lane for runners and floaters. Crisp passer and pesky on ball defender.
Isaiah Stafford (Bolingbrook)
Current Ranking: #28
We called him “Baby Steph” after some of his shooting performances from over the summer and how he still looks very young for his age. High level shot maker from the perimeter on pull ups and threes. As a junior he has displayed more versatility as a scorer with some grit added in on floaters and scoring more in the lane.
Darrion Jones (Bogan)
Current Ranking: #30
The Bogan guard is a compact bowling ball at the point guard position. Love how he hits the hole and gets to the rim for layups. Has the strength to absorb contact at the rim. Steaky shooter, but is definitely improving in that area especially from mid-range.
Jalen Houston (Hyde Park)
Current Ranking: #36
Houston is a 2021 point guard on the rise. He is coming off a strong summer and is now the go to guy on an up and coming Hyde Park team. He was productive slashing for buckets at Team Rose looking like an up and coming scoring point guard.
