Marcellious Lockett2020 6-3 CG Marcellious Lockett – Carrollton
Pumping in 39 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists, unsigned senior Marcellious Lockett put on a show against No. 5 Kell with his scoring abilities. Lockett is a ball-dominant guard that can break his man down off the dribble. He is an excellent finisher at the rim and a playmaker off the dribble.
2022 6-2 PG Scoota Henderson – Kell
A tenacious competitor, Henderson scored 12 of No. 5 Kell’s first 18 points as the Longhorns led 18-0 out of the gate against No. 9 Carrollton before holding on for a 96-86 win. Henderson drilled three threes to showcase his improved range. Henderson can score off the bounce and likes to pull-up off hard drives with his left hand and hit the mid-range. His passing off the bounce sets up teammates for easy layups.
2020 6-6 W Melvin Edwards – Carrollton – UNCW
Melvin Edwards is an above average athlete and a good outside shooter. Edwards had a few monster dunks against No. 5 Kell but also drilled three threes. Sometimes he can get lost in the offense once Lockett gets going, but Edwards has the ability to get the ball off the glass and earn second chance opportunities for his team. He finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 4 blocks.
2020 6-5 W Keith Lamar – Eagle’s Landing – Stetson
Possessing great size and physicality, Keith Lamar is a matchup nightmare at the high school level. Lamar can stretch the floor with his three-point shooting but also loves to bang bodies inside and get dirty in the paint. He is tough to slow down when he gets downhill and absorbs contact when finishing at the rim. He had 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists at the MLK Dream Challenge against No. 2 Shiloh.
2023 6-1 CG David Thomas – Eagle’s Landing
One of Georgia’s best freshmen, David Thomas sparked the Eagles with 23 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 6 steals. Thomas brings effort on both sides of the ball. He gets after it as an on-ball defender and has active hands that lead to deflections. Offensively, Thomas can really score the ball at all three levels. He hit five threes, but is really good at getting to the basket and has enough control of his body to finish through defenders.
2020 6-6 SG Eugene Brown III – Southwest DeKalb – Ohio State
The length, shooting and competitiveness of Eugene Brown III makes him a special player. His resiliency to rebound from a broken leg last season and play at a high level proves his character. He nearly led Southwest DeKalb all the way back against No. 2 Greenforest as he scored 21 of his 25 points in the second half to go with his 11 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals.
2020 6-4 SG PJ Carter – Langston Hughes – Campbell
A premier shooter, PJ Carter got hot against No. 6 Archer and poured in 24 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Carter is a smooth scorer with deep range. His driving has gotten better but he still will need to improve on his playmaking to get his teammates open looks. At the shooting guard position, Carter does exactly what you want however – knock down threes and stretch the defense.
