Some players have certainly used the first have of the season to raise their profile. In this article, we take a look at some of the top underclassmen stock risers.
Dayshawn Wiley 6’3 SG Desert Pines 2021 (#9 2021) – Perhaps no player has seen his stock rise as high as Wiley. He entered the season as a well known local player. His early season exploits have put him on the radar of many west coast scouts. All the tools to be a productive college player. Wiley is a terrific run and jump athlete and can make you pay from distance.
Darnell Fizer 6’5 SG Silverado 2023 (#4 2023) (featured image) – The freshmen rankings are still a fluid situation, hower Fizer has made his case. Physically he fits in on the court, the ultimate looks the part guy, Fizer is a 6’4 athlete that understands how to score. He has been productive, averaging over 11 points per game including scoring in double figures in 5 out of his first 7 games.
Michael Klekas 6’3 SF Elko 2022 (#10 2022) – There are still questions surrounding Klekas, however, his production speaks for himself. He’s been doing this for over a year now. Klekas is a dominating force on a team that is one of the favorites to take home the 3A crown. Elko is 12-1 and Klekas is averaging over 25 per game, he’s definitely going to see his stock rise.
Jamir Stephens 6’0 PG Desert Pines 2022 (#13 2022) – Stephens gets the benefit of the eye test. His numbers aren’t going to jump out at you, but he’s showed great versatility with his ability to both handle the ball and score when playing off it. He shares the position with one of the best PG’s in his class, so sometimes minutes are at a premium, however, he has played extremely well in the time he’s been on the floor.
Karson Roberts 5’10 PG Bonanza 2023 – Roberts has earned his way onto the freshmen rankings. Despite losing several players in the preseason, the Bengals have kept their head above water, thanks to contributions from players like Roberts. A high IQ, two-way player, Roberts has managed to guard his position as well as protect the basketball when thrust into a point guard role. His ability to make shots, has taken some pressure off leading scorer Kendall Burrell.
Noah Sherrad 5’11 PG Silverado 2021 – (#28 2021) – If you’re looking for a shooter, look no further than Sherrad. He has made open looks, contested shots, and timely shots. Sherrad is one of the elite marksmen and a better ballhandler than given credit for. He is averaging nearly 10 per game while knocking down over half of his 3 point attempts.
