THE VERY BEST PERFORMANCES
Joe Anderson (2020) | PG | Maryville
Joe Anderson burst by his defender and finished an easy layup with just over a minute remaining. On the defensive end, Anderson blocked great scorer Cahlib Edwards to calcify the MHS four-point lead, 58-54. The emotions appeared to convey frustration fro the Bearden guards and the game matured into a Maryville’s game to lose. Stole the basketball from Bearden. He quickly busted it up the floor, put the ball behind-his-back and instantly swiveled into a layup on the reverse side. Incredibly deft handles with plus creativity. Signed to Furman University.
Cahlib Edwards (2020) | 5-8 G | Bearden
stats: 16 points
Easily gets into the lane, Edwards is a blur with the ball. He doesn’t make a high percentage of shots in traffic, but he draws fouls constantly. Draws fouls almost every time he gets into the lane. This puts pressure on the defense. Edwards takes the most difficult shots and makes his share.
Josh Seiler (2021) | 6-4 Wing | Maryville
stats: 19 points, 1 block
Caught fire in the in the third quarter, making back-to-back three-pointers. He quickly made 4 points on the next two possessions. Ideal height as a wing. Block of the game! Seiler leaped and swatted down ferociously. It was a stunningly clean block.
Standouts
NEXT TIER OF TOP PERFORMERS
AJ Davis (2020) | 5-11 G | Maryville
A.J. Davis defended well throughout the game. He is big-chested wing that keeps his legs chopping and sliding. Improving his outside shot gradually throughout the season.
Tyler Nordin (2020) | 5-10 Wing | Bearden
stats: 10 points
Speedy. Loves to attack and speed up the defenders in the open floor. Nordin was the most physically imposing player in this particular contest despite playing guard. Nordin’s strength helps him finish among the trees. Suffered a leg injury in the second quarter. If Nordin played the entire game, then he certainly would have been one of the game’s stars.
Jack Brown (2020) | 6-2 Wing | Maryville
stats: 7 points
Quiet much of the game. Brown is a leaper. Transfer in his first season with Maryville High.
Hayden Treadwell (2021) | 6-7 F | Maryville
stats: 2
Thin forward. Executed a wonderful block early fourth quarter. Still filling out and searching for his offensive strengths.
AJ Pruitt (2021) | 6-1 Wing | Bearden
stats: 12 points
Bearden benefits from A.J. Pruitt’s bravery in the lane. Pruitt does not demand touches each possession though he capitilizes when scoring spots sprout up. Pruitt is much stronger than he appears at first glance and the quickness is a true plus. Draws fouls often.
