Lashawn Johnson (East St. Louis – 2020)
Johnson is a 6’5” shooting guard that ranks as one of the top uncommitted wings still on the board. The long and wiry senior came out aggressive. He was very good defensively using his length getting in passing lanes and taking steals the other way. Johnson was excellent in transition going from defense to offense. Improved ball handler that gets to the hoop on straight line takes. Did hit one three and got on the offensive glass. Johnson showcased the electric two way ability that makes him a low-major/D2 prospect. Finished with 13 points in limited minutes.
Armond Williams (East St. Louis – 2020)
Williams stands at 6’8” and is currently the second highest ranked uncommitted center in the 2020 class. Long and lanky frame with plus athleticism. Williams wasn’t challenged much by Highland in his short time on the floor. He got on the offensive glass, scored on a dump off, and split a double for a layup. Looked more fluid and comfortable on the offensive end. Finished with 8 points.
Jashawn Anderson (East St. Louis – 2020)
Anderson is the leader of the Flyers. The unsigned point guard is 5’10” with excellent speed in the open floor. Hit a three en route to 5 points. His best asset was his passing as he consistently got his array of offensive weapons involved. Threw an alley-oop and had quick dishes inside.
Patrick Readye (East St. Louis – 2020)
Readye is a big bodied five man that has slimmed down some since the summer. He showcased some mobility around the hoop and even hit a three to open the game. Was one of the more active performances we have seen out of Readye recently as he had 7 points once again in limited action.
Cade Altadonna (Highland – 2023)
It was a tough night for Highland, but again the bright spot for this super young team was their young point guard. Altadonna is crafty with the ball in his hands hitting scoop shots and changing gears. Got in the lane against solid defenders as the game went along. He had 7 points.
Davaris Macklin (Carbondale – 2020)
Macklin put himself on our radar with his performance. Stands at 6’4” with quality length. The lefty has a clean looking stroke on his jumper especially from mid-range where he drilled several pull ups. Also connected on a corner three. Moves well away from the ball and sealed at the cup for a bucket. Has some projectability and two way potential at the small college level. Went for 13 points.
Tavaris Macklin (Carbondale – 2020)
The other Macklin was the story of the night in the first half. This 6’2” shooting guard had multiple early layups off steals and posting up off great set plays where he caught it on the move. Plays physical in the lane and is effective in the open floor. He had 14 points.
Laten Wayer (Salem – 2020)
Wayer was the leading scorer for the Wildcats. The point guard is a decent shooter as he showcased hitting a pair of triples. Also got in the lane for a runner ending with 10 points.
