Recruiting Report: Tremaine Chesley (2020)
Tremaine Chesley, a class of 2020 guard from St. Charles, has always been known for his defense. His coaches liken him to Gary Payton as a result of the impact he makes on that end of the floor. Chesley is making noticeable strides offensively, as we’ve seen throughout this season.
“My jump shot is one of the most improved parts of my game,” he told Prep Hoops. “I’ve been staying after practice with my coaches and putting extra work in.”
Along with the development of his shot, Chesley has become adept at using his off-hand when finishing at the rim. He noted that being able to finish with either hand helps keep the defense guessing. Chesley’s leadership intangibles are another aspect of his game that is improving.
“I’m working on keeping the team together and being a leader,” Chesley stated. “I’m learning how to be vocal and approach my teammates, so they know that I’m coming at them to help them instead of putting them down.”
Maryland Eastern Shore and Hartford are the two schools Chesley said are currently recruiting hardest. He’s already visited UMES and is planning to visit Hartford in the near future. Some other schools who’ve reportedly expressed interest include Canisius, La Salle, Howard, and Mount St. Mary’s.
“I’m looking for a place where he can just go in, fit in and feel at home,” Chesley said.
“I feel like I can be the engine of a team at the next level. I can bring energy and hard defense.”
