Recruiting Report: Jordan Battle (2020)
Jordan Battle, a senior from Norfolk Collegiate, was a standout performer on Monday at the Kevin Durant MLK Classic. The explosive 6-foot-2 lead guard, who has scored over 2,000 points and is the all-time leading scorer at his school, initially stood out as a result of his ability to distribute the ball. Battle is a solid ball-handler and reliable playmaker who demonstrates the ability to make guys around him better.
“I think my passing is underrated. I like to get my guys involved,” Battle told Prep Hoops. “People think I’m a scorer, but I can pass. From the beginning of the game, I try to get my guys hot. If they get hot, so do I.”
For a point guard, Battle is a strong rebounder and is also a good defensive player. He plays with high intensity, which was evident throughout Monday’s performance. Throughout his high school career, Battle has worked to improve his ball-handling and shooting.
“I get in the gym every day. As much as I can,” he said. “I’m confident in my shot. It wasn’t falling like I wanted to, but it’ll improve.”
Battle said that Appalachian State, who was in the gym on Monday, is recruiting him hardest. He hasn’t visited the school yet but is planning to eventually. Battle says he’s looking for a school that feels like home. Somewhere he feels welcome and can fit in.
What can he bring to a college program?
“I can bring intensity and energy. I don’t care about starting, I just like to play with energy.”
