“DT is every coach’s dream,” Park Center head coach James Ware said. “His ferociously competitive spirit combined with his unselfish play mixed in with being an incredible athlete is truly unique and rare in this present day era.”
Frierson was the Park Center second leading scorer as a junior and is the third leading scorer this year for Park Center (averaged/averaging 13 a game both seasons). In addition, Frierson is top two on his team in rebounding, assists, steals, and several other things, and this is a team that has 5-6 guys with scholarship offers (including national top 50-60 level talent Dain Dainja).
But more important to Frierson is winning. That’s why Frierson is the point guard, top defender, and a player that teammates gravitate towards. The Pirates started the year at number one and at the moment they are ranked 5th with a 7-2 record.
“The year is going great. I’ve been playing really well also,” Frierson said. “The main goal (this year) is to find a college program where I fit in, win conference for the third time consecutively, and win a state title. As a team our goal is to trust the process and win a state title.”
And how can the team reach their goal of a state title? With their team chemistry which is built by…. “By trusting each other,” Frierson explained. “We team bond off the court as well.”
Anybody that has spent time watching Frierson knows how far he’s come as a skilled player. The athletic ability and effort is there, and the skills have grown to match the other parts of his game.
“I really improved getting comfortable with taking more shots,” DT said. “Now I’m looking forward to controlling the pace of the game as a PG.”
Coach Ware is hearing from an assortment of college programs about Frierson playing at the next level.
“A New Mexico juco, Cloud juco, Killgore, Navarro, Missouri Southwest Pplains and division one wise North Dakota, Marist, Southern Illinois, and the latest to check in with me on him are some NSIC division two schools,” Ware said.
