Wilson is the starting point guard for St. John’s College High School and currently has led his team to a record of 17-3. Manzie is a smaller guard as I mentioned he was 5’10 but doesn’t allow his size to phase him as he has a tight dribble and can get passed defenders to finish around the basket. I have also seen a much improved jump shot this year from Wilson which has helped his team when they need big shots.
He talked with us about how his senior season is going so far.
“I think it is going good. We got off to a pretty good start. We took a tough L to Carroll the other day but I think we are doing pretty good so far.”
Wilson is one of three seniors on the team which has allowed him to take a big leadership role for his team.
“We have three seniors, me, Mikey and Ish, and our team is very young and they look at us to lead them because we went to the championship last year and we had a good run so I feel like us three have the experience and we just have to lead the young guys and prepare them for their older years and try to get the best out of them this year.”
Right now there are two schools Wilson is hearing from being Fairfield and St. Peter’s. He discussed those two schools a little bit with us.
Fairfield: “I just started speaking them, they texted me earlier this week.”
St. Peter’s: “I have been speaking to them for a while, I think since the beginning of the summer, I have a good relationship with the staff.”
When asked what he can bring to a college program, he said, “Just a tough guard from New York, a guard that can bring defense, leadership and just a winner. I like to win so I think I can bring that to a college program.”
