Top programs stretching from Tennessee all the way to the West Coast bring high end talent and excitement to the packed stands in this two-day hoops extravaganza. This years event was as impressive as ever. There were some impressive teams and tremendous talent on display from outside the region. Here’s a list at the top seniors from outside MO/IL that had standout performances at the Quincy Shootout:
6’6 F Darren Tobias | Sheldon (CA): impressive forward who stepped up in the absence of Marcus Bagley. Was awarded game MVP. Can board it, skilled inside, attacks strong off the bounce from the baseline
6’7 F Duane Posey | Memphis East (TN): pogo stick forward who is a high-octane athlete that jumps through the gym. Rim-rocker and rebounder. Can knock down the mid-range.
6’1 G Dante Davis | Liberty (NV): absolute sharpshooter. Knocked down several deep threes off the bounce and catch and shoot against Tolton. Utilizes the shot-fake and mid-range jumper well.
6’9 F Even Brauns | Iowa City West (IA): Belmont signee, monster on the blocks. If he gets a seal it is an automatic bucket. Soft hands. Dominant on the glass. Runs the floor exceptionally well.
6’7 G Samson Ruzhenstev | Hamilton Heights (TN): best prospect in the gym. Walking bucket. Has tremendous body and ball control on the drive and is an acrobatic finisher. Impressive lay-up package. Range beyond the arc. Follows his shot better and more consistently than anyone I have ever seen.
6’7 G Andersson Garcia | Hamilton Heights (TN): superb athleticism. Had the two most impressive dunks of the weekend. Plays with toughness and edge. Relentless effort on offensive glass.
6’4 G Jamal Winston | Davenport West (IA): stud. College wing body. He can really shoot it. Smooth release, when it leaves his hand it looks good. Can fill it up on you in a hurry.
