In Friday night’s North Shore Conference matchup, Grafton got a big 82-68 road victory over Cedarburg. Behind an impressive performance from Brock Heffner, the Black Hawks dominated the second half to get the win.
Here is a list of standout prospects from last night’s bout:
Brock Heffner 6’6″ / PF Grafton
Brock Heffner is already well on his way to becoming a superstar. The 6-foot-6 power forward has length, versatility, and scoring ability. Heffner led Grafton with 29 points on an efficient 8-13 shooting from the field.
Is should not be too long before Heffner’s mailbox starts to fill up with letters from college basketball programs.
JP Benzschawel 6’7″/ PF Grafton
JP Benzschawel’s future won’t be on the basketball court. Instead, Benzschawel has committed to Wisconsin on a football scholarship. But, just because Benzschawel will be playing college football, it doesn’t mean he can’t create an impact on the basketball court. JP put up eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Grafton victory.
Alex Huibregtse 6’2″ / G Grafton
Alex Huibregtse did just enough for Grafton in Friday’s win. By no means was the guard playing off the charts like Brock Heffner and Drew Biber, but he was still very solid. Huibregtse scored 22 points while also snatching seven rebounds.
As one of the better pure scorers in the state, Huibregtse should be able to carve out a sizable role for himself at Wright State.
Drew Biber 6’4″ / SF Cedarburg
Drew Biber’s team didn’t get the win, but he was still the best prospect on the court. Biber scored 33 points in the Bulldogs’ tough loss.
I knew that Biber was really good with the ball in his hand, but on Friday he showed that he can also move really well without the ball. When he was on offense, the Cedarburg SF was always moving with the intention to get open for a shot.
Tyler Tsui 5’7″/ PG Grafton
At just 5-foot-7, Tyler Tsui plays harder than everybody else on the court. Grafton has some really talented prospects, but I am not sure that the Black Hawks would be 10-3 without Tsui’s contributions. The point guard does a nice job of running the offense while also playing really stout defense.
Jacob Aleknavicius 6’3″/ G Grafton
Scoring 12 points on four made three-pointers, Jacob Aleknavicius gave Grafton a nice boost. When teams start to key in on Brock Heffner and Alex Huibregtse, Aleknavicius can be dangerous from beyond the arc. He hit some timely shots in Friday’s win.
