Calhoun is a talented young grinder on the court. He loves the weight room, which helps him battle in the paint. Calhoun will never take a play or possession off, and he becomes a thorn in the side of his opponent. He’s a very coachable player that is always looking for pointers and ways to get better. Calhoun is a true team player. He’s willing to do things like set screens and box out. They may not make the highlight reel, but they win games.
Calhoun is focused on improving his game. He knows that continued growth as a player will enhance his future success. Calhoun is currently working on his defense and guard skills. Added guard skills would help him stretch the floor and create scoring opportunities.
Calhoun is gaining experience at a rapid rate. He considers winning a district championship last season as his top moment in the game so far. Calhoun is looking forward to seeing how far his Riverview Gabriel Richard squad can advance this time around. He’s eagerly anticipating some big grassroots tournaments come the spring and summer.
Michael Calhoun has next level potential as a basketball player. He’s already a talented athlete that shines on the court. His ceiling as a player is very high and there are things he can bring to the table for a college team. Calhoun is always willing to learn and is driven by a competitive fire. This bodes well for his future in the game.
Calhoun has goals that he wants to achieve. This season he wants to be a big asset to his team and help them succeed in any way that he can. Long term, he would like to get a scholarship to play college basketball.
When asked about what motivates him him, Calhoun said: “My family, I would like to be the first in my family to play college sports and obtain my degree.”
