He’s a 6’0″ point guard that has all the intangibles. Olafioye played grassroots basketball with All Ohio Red. He averaged 20 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds per game.
Olafioye is a dynamic point guard. The young man is nasty with the ball and can create scoring opportunities and finish at a high percentage. Defenders can’t sit back on Olafioye because he can bury a jumper off the catch at any time. People see his scoring (he already has a high of 30 points in a game and is averaging over 24 points per game), but need to look deeper into his game and see that he’s an excellent passer as well. Olafioye can deliver the ball on a dime when he sees a teammate in a scoring position.
Olafioye understands the importance of continued improvement and gaining experience. He’s currently working on his shooting off the dribble. Improvement in that area will only enhance his already elite scoring abilities. Olafioye points to his first 30 point game this season as freshman, as his top moment in the game so far. He gained valuable experience against high quality talent at the Prep Hoops Top 250 in September.
Malik Olafioye is already being actively recruited. He has 6 Division 1 offers and is being pursued by high majors. Olafioye has a lot to offer to a college basketball program. Obviously his skill set and talent are huge assets in their own right, but he brings even more to the table. Olafioye will bring toughness, a high basketball IQ, leadership, and work ethic to whatever team he plays for.
Olafioye has set his goals high and plans on reaching them. He wants to always push his teammates to get better and wants to win a state championship. Olafioye is eying the 1000 career point mark, and he hopes to hit it by the end of his sophomore season. He is working toward the goal of earning a Division 1 scholarship. Off the court, Olafioye wants to maintain his 3.7 GPA. He wants to work hard every day and be the best that he can be in all aspects of life.
Olafioye is on the track towards a memorable basketball career. He’s a classy, smart, and motivated young man. When asked about his motivation to be successful, he points towards his family. “My Dad and my family. They always put me in the best positions to be able to achieve my short term and long term goals! Without their support it would be hard. I’m grateful to have such a great support system.”
