Can score from multiple levels with his ability to get through traffic. Excellent ball handler that has it on a string. Continuing to evolve as a perimeter shooter as was shown recently at the Highland Shootout where he went 2-2 from beyond the arc. We caught up with Drane to check in on how his season is going half way through.
“It is going good and coming along piece by piece. It will get there. I think I am playing better because I have a lot more confidence. I am the point guard so I have to get everyone going. I think I am playing with more confidence and at a higher level.”
As the point guard is it difficult to find a mix between getting everyone else involved while still scoring?
“It is balanced because I can still be aggressive, but I have to get the sets going and get everyone where they need to be. In the right spots to score. I can balance it out pretty good.”
He talked about a couple areas he is focusing on the rest of the season in his game.
“I want to work on my defense more. Also my mid-range. I just want to win.”
As of now he says he isn’t receiving much recruiting attention early in the process. Drane currently checks in as the #2 overall prospect and top guard in the sophomore class. He told us that he plans on playing with Bates Fundamental again this spring on the travel teams circuit alongside the best sophomore nationally Emoni Bates. The sophomore ran with them in July last year.
