MVP: Daniel Skillings (2022) | St. Joe’s
Skillings was all over the floor from the beginning of the game. He finished with 23 points to lead all scores. He was able to do most of his work in transition and off rebounds. He was a monster on the boards and on the defensive end as well. When watching this game, Skillings was the clear best player on the floor.
Best Defensive Performance: Eugene Brown (2020) | Central
Brown was all over the boards in this one. He grabbed six in the first half and finished with many more. Brown led his team with 14 points but his work was most noticed on the defensive side of the ball. He was a difference maker and made St. Joe’s earn everything on the offensive end.
Best Offensive Performance: Skillings/Marcus Pierce (2021) | St. Joe’s
It is impossible to not have Skillings here once again but Pierce was also dynamic. He finished with 12 points in this one. He is one of the leading scorers on the team to this point. Pierce, a junior, is starting to put his name on the map and show that he can score in many ways on the floor.

Best Underclassman: Justin Sorrano (2022) | Central
Sorrano is one of those players where you are surprised to learn that he is a sophomore. He is a big bodied player who looks like he is an upperclassman. On the floor, Sorrano is most effective off the dribble getting to the rim. He was forcing jump shots early on but then began to start putting the ball on the ground.
Best guy off the bench: Marvin Goodwine Jr. (2021) | Central

Best Under-the-Radar Performance: Jordan Stafford (2021) | St. Joe’s
Stafford finished with 11 points in this game and was one of three St. Joe’s players in double-figures. He is sometimes overshadowed by players like Skillings and Pierce but he is not a player that should give up the spotlight. The junior is a dynamic offensive player and one that can carry a game when needed.

Johnson and Central were up against a tough opponent tonight but they hung in for a half and showed that they are not an easy out. Johnson was one of the players who tried to control the tempo of the game for Central. He handled the ball and tried setting up his team in the best position.
