Every Region is 6A is getting tight now with some inspired play from every team trying to survive and position themselves in the RPI rankings. Region 1-4 have not been decided despite a few teams out in front.
Davis vs. Fremont
WOW! Region 1 is something else this year. Every year these teams have players scattered across different teams that have that next level talent. This season is no different but we have three teams on the top that have heavyweight battles every time they meet.
Davis High School flexed their muscles a little bit last night as they handled Fremont from the get go. They took a 40-12 halftime lead and never looked back. Jake Sampson was 1 of 5 Davis Darts in double figures but he had a game high 16 points. Davis and Jake Sampson are starting to peak at the right time.
West Jordan vs. Taylorsville
In an OT Thriller West Jordan takes control of Region 2. Logan Prince came up huge with a 24 point performance. The 6’3 sophomore has been ballin’ all year long. The future is bright for the Jaguars with this young stud.
It doesn’t get easier for West Jordan as they take on Cyprus later this week. They pulled out a 3 point win in their last meeting. Taylorsville will have one more shot at them but be aware and beware of Cyprus. Cyprus has a freshman that has been given the keys and the green light.
Copper Hills
With Copper Hills on top of Region 3 they are going to have a few more battles with Bingham, Herriman and Jordan. It can go either way in these game. 6’4 PG Stone Hutchings is playing at a high level. he had a nice 34 point game that helped his team beat a tough Herriman team. Joining the 1,000 point club could happen if Stone keeps hitting his average.
Skyridge vs. Lone Peak
The Wild Wild Region 4 is at it again. 1 team is 4-1 and another is 0-5, while everyone else is 3-2 and Corner Canyon is 2-3. Skyridge is in control of their destiny but its going to be a dog fight till the end. Duncan Reid and Trevon Snoody are a tough cover. Throw Brayden Housley in their and there is a lot of trouble for other teams. The second half of the season should be wild.
