Player of the Week: Week 5
After not getting any nominees last week, we are back with our Player of the Week poll. Here are the nominees for the week:
Anthony Caggiano, Ryle – The Senior had 21 points and 3 rebounds in a loss to Beechwood before 21 points and 6 rebounds in a big win over Bracken County.
Nate Turner, Madison Southern – Just a Sophomore, Turner helped Madison Southern to 2 wins last week in Florida. Against Manhattan Prep, he had 17 points and 6 rebounds. Against Lake Mary Prep, Nate had 17 points and 7 rebounds and then in the lone loss of the week, Turner had 20 points and 8 rebounds in an OT loss to Riverdale Country.
Cade Stinnett, Greenwood – The Sophomore had 23 points in a losing effort to Harvest Prep out of Hawaii. The next day, Cade had 24 points and 6 rebounds in an OT win over Cardinal Stritch.
Alex Matthews, John Hardin – Alex had 21 points and 9 rebounds in a win over Corbin,15 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Clay County, 25 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Moore and 37 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Madisonville.
Tanner Walton, Lexington Christian – The Sophomore had 14 points and 4 rebounds in a loss to McCracken County, 24 points and 9 rebounds in a loss to West Jessamine and 26 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Scott.
Jacobi Huddleston, Bowling Green – The Junior big man helped BG to 3 wins as he had 11 points and 11 rebounds against Spencer County, 12 points and 11 rebounds against Bullitt East and 24 points and 6 rebounds against Holmes.
Sam Vinson, Highlands – The Bluebirds won the City of Middletown Classic and Vinson had 24 points and 12 rebounds against Central, 19 points and 8 rebounds against Lafayette and 44 points and 10 rebounds against Eastern in the title game.
Sam Conley, Spencer County – The Bears went 2-1 on the week and Sam had 30 points and 6 rebounds in a loss to Bowling Green, 25 points and 9 rebounds in a win over Holmes and 20 points and 6 boards in an OT win over Warren Central.
Davon Johnson, Atherton – Atherton also played at the City of Middletown Classic and went 2-1. Johnson scored 26 in a close loss to Ohio County, 26 again in a win over Thomas Nelson and 20 points in a win over Central to end the week.
Cole Dixon, Hancock County – The freshman notched 12 points and 7 rebounds in a narrow loss in the 3rd Region All A tournament.
