Guard Jordan Morris and big man Derrick Bueno have been an increasingly unstoppable force on the offensive side of the basketball. With the duo sitting on a 10-5 record, expectations for a county title run are becoming increasingly possible.
Jordan Morris Gets Buckets!
I’m beginning to run out of adjectives when describing the consistent production from Morris on a game to game basis. The senior guard last week turned heads with perhaps his best week of the season yet, netting averages of 23.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 4.3 steals. Morris is a big game player as well. In a big-time matchup against Don Bosco last Thursday, he scored 26 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals in a 68-64 victory.
Morris is quick, shifty, and loves to embrace contact at the rim with a strong core that allows him to finish in traffic. Did I mention he can play defense too?
Derrick Bueno is Special
Whenever a player eclipses the 1,000 point mark for their career before entering their Senior season, usually is a sign of greatness. Bueno, the 6’7, 220-pound center, is a force and virtually unstoppable when he gets the ball in the paint. A double-double machine, Bueno has produced several ridiculous stat lines, including 25 points and 12 rebound game against Passaic Tech and 17 points and 20 rebounds against Teaneck.
A staunch defender, Bueno blocks shots consistently and is rarely pushed out of his comfort zone on defense.
Paramus Catholic Outlook
With Morris and Bueno steering the ship, it’s hard to overlook the Paladins. Having already secured several impressive victories against Don Bosco and Ramapo, the Paladins figure to be a tough out for anyone come tournament time.
