Continue Reading#1 Westover (10-0): The only remaining undefeated team left in the County, the Wolverines roll into the New Year with confidence and will get right to it with two games in three days. Junior Guard D’Marco Dunn has been one of the headliners for this team as he leads public school in scoring at 21.4 PPG and is top 10 in rebounding at 7.8 RPG. However the Wolverines feature three players that are top 5 scorers in the county which includes Dunn, Junior Guard Darius Jewell at 13.4 PPG and Senior Forward Traymond Willis-Shaw at 14.2 PPG.
#2 Terry Sanford (8-1): Although they have a loss on their record, it must noted that this came during the time where multiple rotation players were absent due to football season. Since the return of their entire squad, the Bulldogs have been dominate and have a big time matchup with #1 Westover next week. One name to know from this group is Sophomore Forward Davis Molnar who is averaging just under a double/double with 13 points and 9 rebounds per game.
#3 Pine Forest (8-3): The Trojans are off to a good start this year with two out of three loses coming to the team that are ranked at the #1 and #2 spots. The Trojans feature three players in the top 10 for public schools in scoring with Freshman Isaiah Washington at 15 PPG, Senior Marquis Eskew 13 PPG and Sophomore Tristan Harkins 12.7 PPG.
#4 Cape Fear (6-3): One of the younger teams in the area, they are getting better slowly but surely and will be playing their best ball when tourney time arrives. They feature one of the best Freshman in the state in Guard Tremayne Parker who is filling up the state line with 18 Points, 7.6 Rebounds and 6 Assist per game.
#5 71st HS (5-5): The Falcons are in unfamiliar territory as they are in rebuild mode this year but overall they are handling things well and have some bright young talent to look forward to. The Falcons are sitting at a record of 500 now which is impressive considering they didn’t bring back a ton of veteran experience.
#6 Jack Britt (3-7): The Bucs will be looking to bounce back in 2020 as they have gotten off to a slower start this season but the are some positives for this team as they are getting nice production from their seniors. Senior Guard Langston Davis ended the year averaging 9 Points and 3 Assist per game while Senior Forward Jordian Fox comes in averaging 12 points and 6 rebounds a night. They also have a sophomore Forward prospect in Demetri Patterson that you have to keep a close eye on as well.
#7 Southview HS (4-6): They have competed on a nightly basis, and although they have come up short, you have to love that they don’t take games off. One of the bright spots for this team is Forward Aiden Mclaurin, the 6’5 Senior is averaging 10 PPG and 8 RPG for his squad.
#8 EE Smith (3-8): It’s been a rough start to the season for the Golden Bulls but they feature some young talent and are building taking steps in the right direction. Junior Guard Demetrius Polk is one to keep an eye over the next two years, he’s developing as a PG and is currently top 5 in the County in Assist per game.
#9 Grays Creek (3-8), #10 Douglas Byrd (1-11)
