1. South Granville Vikings (6-0)
Last Rank: 1st (↔)
The South Granville Vikings remain the lone undefeated team in the conference at 6-0 and are still undefeated on the season at 18-0. Bobby Pettiford Jr. leads the team in scoring (21.6 ppg) while unsigned senior Wy’kise Allen has recorded four consecutive double-doubles on their current streak. Factor in Kobe Jones and his highlight-reel dunks and it’s easy to see why the Vikings are still on top in the power rankings. They return to action on Jan. 28 against Warren County.
2. Granville Central Panthers (6-1)
Last Rank: 2nd (↔)
The Panthers took their first loss in conference play this past Tuesday night against South Granville. They’re still in good shape in the standings at 5-1, but their rematch on Feb. 14 looms large in the revenge department. Jamari Mann still surpassed the 1,000-point mark with a 33-point outing while Terence Harcum Jr. put up a triple-double (20 points, 12 assists 11 rebounds). Next up for them: Roanoke Rapids tonight in NCC action.
3. Bunn Wildcats (4-3)
Last Rank: 3rd (↔)
Bunn has stumbled a bit in the standings, though, they still remain steady at third in this edition of power rankings. They’ve gone 1-2 since the last release with losses to Granville Central (1/17) and Louisburg (1/24). This Friday, the Wildcats will look to get back to their winning ways against a streaking Warren County squad.
4. Warren County (3-4)
Last Rank: 5th (↑1)
The Warren County Eagles have gone 3-0 since starting out 0-4 in conference play. Two single-digit victories over J.F. Webb and Louisburg has boosted their position in the power rankings. Senior guard Andrew Smith is putting up 18.6 points per contest across the last three games on 43 percent shooting from the field. On Tuesday, he’ll face an undefeated South Granville squad looking to make it four conference wins in a row.
5. J.F. Webb (3-4)
Last Rank: 4th (↓1)
The Warriors are on a bit of a losing streak in the Northern Carolina Conference with two-straight losses. They’ve been overtaken by Warren County since losing a close one 48-44 this past Friday. They’ll have little room for error with Granville Central coming up this Tuesday.
6. Louisburg Warriors (2-5)
Last Rank: 5th (↓1)
Elijah Jamison is doing his best to power his squad in the standings. The Warriors have gone 1-1 since the last power rankings were released with a win over Bunn and a six-point loss to Warren County. Jamison leads the NCC in scoring (30.1 ppg) and rebounds (13.1 rpg) through 16 regular-season games. They’ll be a tough squad to beat down the stretch with Jamison leading the way. 2023 guard Jordan Durham is also producing 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest.
7. Roanoke Rapids (0-7)
Last Rank: 7th (↔)
Roanoke Rapids is the only winless team in the conference. The Yellowjackets have gone 0-3 since the last edition of power rankings and have still yet to win a game in the 2019-20 season. They’ve got Louisburg on Tuesday as they look to end their current streak.
