Most teams are over halfway done with their respective seasons and ideally rounding into form, gearing up for a run. With big games going on nightly across the state, there are opportunities for teams to notch big wins and players with chances to shine in a big way.
Here are last week’s Players of the Week:
Tyler Terhark, West Fargo Sheyenne
The Mustangs are right there at the top of the EDC standings and Terhark’s picking things up after a slow-ish start to the year. The 6-foot-4 senior swingman stuffed the stat sheet in both of Sheyenne’s wins last week, scoring 23 points, grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out six assists in the team’s win over Fargo North and besting that with 23 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists in a blowout win over Grand Forks Red River.
Chance Danner, Thompson
Thompson is re-emerging as a team to be reckoned with and Danner’s production inside is the primary cause. The 6-foot-5 senior big man is averaging a double-double on the year while providing elite interior defense. Danner was instrumental in all three of the Tommies’ wins last week. He scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the win over Midway/Minto and went for 14 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in the blowout win over North Border. Then to cap it off, he put up 13 points and hauled in 23 rebounds in the upset win over New Rockford-Sheyenne.
Jaiden Wright, Dickinson
The Midgets are in the thick of the race for a top-four finish in the WDA and Wright has been a catalyst on both ends of the floor. The 6-foot-3 guard was a stat-sheet stuffer last week, helping Dickinson beat Mandan and Watford City. He scored 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting while grabbing four rebounds and dishing out five assists in the team’s win over Mandan before scoring 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting in addition to seven rebounds and six assists in the win over Watford City.
