Here are last week’s top teams from Class B:
Grafton
Don’t count the Spoilers out in Region 2. Despite taking a few losses early in the season, Grafton/St. Thomas showed that it is capable of stringing together really strong play. The Spoilers went 3-0 last week, beating Kindred, Midway/Minto and Central Cass. Brandon Albrecht and Stevan Garza have stepped up in a big way for the Spoilers and played huge parts in securing the wins especially over Kindred and Central Cass.
St. John
The Woodchucks have been terrific early in the year and they added another quality win to the resume, beating Cavalier 68-56 to improve to 5-1 on the season. The Woodchucks outscored the Tornadoes by 14 in the fourth quarter to notch the victory, with Michael Dunn leading the charge with 20 points, five assists and six steals. Tyreece Gunville added 18 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Dickinson Trinity
Dickinson Trinity and Shiloh Christian both went 2-0 over the weekend at the Shiloh Christian Invitational, beating Dunseith and Oak Grove. For the Titans, the two wins move them to 6-2 on the year. There were a lot of contributors over the weekend as Matthew Stafford and Tanner Soehren combined for 35 points and 16 rebounds in the win over the Dragons while Cole Fitterer and Jake Daniel powered the Titans to the win over the Grovers with Cole Praus chipping in with 13 points off the bench. Defense was a calling card of course too, as Trinity allowed just 41 and 40 points.
