The Indians didn’t play at all last week, so they’ll stay in the top spot. Things will be undoubtedly tough as they get into region play, but Four Winds/Minnewaukan is arguably the most complete and talented team in the state.
Rugby
The Panthers picked up another blowout win over North Star/Starkweather, getting another complete performance. Jaden Hamilton and Trace Goven continue to be one of the best duos in the state, combining to score 42 points while guys like Isiah Bundy-Smith, Cole Slaubaugh and Devan Michels provide excellent complementary play.
Hillsboro/Central Valley
The Burros’ highly-anticipated matchup with Four Winds/Minnewaukan was postponed last week, which means they didn’t get an opportunity to climb the rankings, but also didn’t take a loss. H/CV stays in the top-three after a blowout win over Larimore and will face solid teams like Cavalier and Northern Cass over the course of the next week.
Enderlin
The Eagles won two more games to move to 8-0 on the year. The Eagles haven’t played a real tough schedule aside from a season-opening win over Hatton/Northwood. But there’s no denying that this team is legit and with a frontline as talented as theirs, it’s going to be hard to beat them.
Richland
Mother Nature was undefeated against Richland last week, as the Colts had both games postponed. Richland doesn’t have a whole lot of depth, but its high-enders are as high-end as anybodies. With a back-loaded schedule in region play, the Colts have a chance to get into quite a groove.
New Rockford-Sheyenne
The Rockets didn’t show any signs of rust last week, beating Warwick by 27. The Rockets have an experienced and athletic group led by seniors Bo Belquist and Hunter Thompson.
St. John
The Woodchucks’ Saturday matchup with Hatton/Northwood was postponed, robbing Class B fans of what would’ve likely been a dandy of a game. St. John did beat Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood handily last week and is 8-1 on the year.
Hatton/Northwood
The Thunder had an opportunity to earn another high-quality win but its matchup with St. John was postponed Saturday. A blowout win over May-Port-C-G helped the Thunder improve to 5-2 on the year.
Shiloh Christian
Shiloh destroyed Grant County and Solen last week, winning two games by a combined 106 points. The Skyhawks are 8-2 on the year, with an impressive resume full of good wins. They’ll face a very good New Salem-Almont team in a big Region 5 showdown this upcoming week.
New Salem-Almont
New Salem-Almont continues to win with elite defense and timely offense, beating Standing Rock/Selfridge and Mott-Regent last week to improve to 9-0. The Holsteins held both teams under 50 points, meaning just one team has eclipsed that number so far against them. The offense may go through some ups and downs, but the defense gives them a chance to contend in Region 5.
