Here are this week’s top-10 teams in Class B
Hillsboro/Central Valley
The Burros retain the top spot until somebody knocks them out. Currently, they are 4-0 with four blowout wins. Things will get interesting in the next two weeks as they’ll face Thompson, Larimore, Four Winds/Minnewaukan and Hatton/Northwood.
Four Winds/Minnewaukan
The Indians haven’t shown any signs of vulnerability early in the year, posting blowout wins over quality teams. Their latest win was over a solid Hatton/Northwood team by 21. That game against Hillsboro on the 17th will be highly anticipated.
Rugby
The Panthers have taken care of business early this year, going 5-0 with wins over solid teams like Beulah, New Rockford-Sheyenne and Dunseith. They beat Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood by 24 last week and get a good Des Lacs Burlington team this upcoming week.
Shiloh Christian
The Skyhawks keep on rolling. Shiloh blew out Oak Grove and took care of business against Dunseith over the weekend in the Shiloh Christian Invitational. Jaden Mitzel has been a force all year and is putting together a Player-of-the-Year kind of season in Class B.
Richland
The Colts took one on the chin to Hillsboro before New Years but rebounded with a thorough win over LaMoure-Litchville/Marion. Richland’s region schedule is fairly backloaded, so the Colts will have an opportunity to get on a bit of a roll here over the coming weeks before things get tough later on.
Enderlin
The Eagles have been dominant early this year, sitting at 5-0 with their most recent win coming against Sargent Central. Joe Hurlburt is completely dominating games on both ends of the floor. Like Richland, Enderlin has what looks like a light January before things will get more difficult down the stretch.
New Rockford-Sheyenne
New Rockford-Sheyenne has a close loss to Rugby in the CNDC Tournament title game but the Rockets have wins over St. John and Central Cass. The recent win over Central Cass is one that’ll look even better as the season goes on.
St. John
The Woodchucks are 5-1 after an excellent win over Cavalier last week. St. John is looking like another team that can make a run in Region 4. The Woodchucks have experience and great balance offensively.
Langdon/Edmore/Munich
Yet another quality team in Region 4, LEM has a close loss to No. 4 Shiloh Christian but is otherwise undefeated on the year. The next four games will be telling as the Cardinals will face tough teams including Dakota Prairie, Hatton/Northwood and Cavalier.
Underwood
The Comets are 4-0 on the year with quality close wins over Our Redeemers and Flasher. An incredibly streaky team a year ago, the Comets showed they can get hot. Things will get more difficult in the coming weeks, but they’ve shown they can win hotly-contested games.
