Here are last week’s top teams from Class A
Grand Forks Red River
The Roughriders took a few losses early in the year against top teams like West Fargo Sheyenne and Fargo Davies (plus Moorhead) but they’ve gotten right since mid-December. Red River came out of the break on a high note, blowing out Devils Lake (which turned around and blew out West Fargo) behind 22 points and six assists from Brady Dvorak. Then on Saturday, the Roughriders beat Aberdeen Central, one of the best 2A teams in South Dakota in double overtime. Kobe Springer led the way in that one, scoring 23 points and grabbing four rebounds.
Dickinson
The Midgets came into this year with high expectations and thus far, they’ve lived up to them. Dickinson earned another excellent win last week, beating Bismarck Legacy (another contender for a top-four spot in the league) 62-49. Kobe Krenz was terrific, going for 17 points, six rebounds, eight assists, four steals and zero turnover. Tallon Klatt added a double-double as the Midgets improved to 4-1 in WDA play.
Jamestown
After suffering their first loss in more than a year, the Bluejays made sure not to let it become a streak. Jamestown got 35 points and 10 rebounds from Boden Skunberg, beating Bismarck Century 72-57. The Bluejays’ defense was outstanding, as the Patriots shot just 34 percent from the field. Skunberg plus an elite defense is a formula the Bluejays can ride a long ways.
