The Bluejays reclaim the top spot in the rankings after defeating Mandan last week. The Bluejays survived a brutal offensive performance thanks to terrific defense and while Boden Skunberg struggled mightily from the field (9-of-27 shooting), he finished the win with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Brooks Carroll continues to provide consistent production on the wing.
Fargo Davies
The Eagles bounced back in impressive fashion with a thorough victory over West Fargo following their disappointing loss to Grand Forks Central last weekend. Depth was once again the strength as six players scored 7-13 points with Owen Hektner stuffing the stat sheet with 13 points, four rebounds, five assists and five steals.
West Fargo Sheyenne
The Mustangs earned a solid win over a ranked Devils Lake squad last week, getting yet another monster game from Blake Berg. The senior swingman scored 23 points, hauled in eight rebounds and dished out four assists. Jacksen Moni is starting to come along as well, posting a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Bismarck
The Demons extended their winning streak to seven games, beating Dickinson and Turtle Mountain last week. Offense was the theme again as they poured in 96 and 83 points in the process. They knocked down 19 3-pointers in the win over Dickinson while getting 13 points and seven assists from Max Tschosik. Logan Schaubert was terrific in the win over Turtle Mountain, scoring 21 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Minot
Minot took care of business last week, beating Turtle Mountain and Williston in convincing fashion. Jaxon Gunville continued his ridiculously good play, scoring 38 points on 18 shots in the win over Turtle Mountain before stuffing the stat sheet with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists against Williston.
Dickinson
The Midgets split a pair of games last week, beating Bismarck St. Mary’s before losing in a shootout to Bismarck. Jaiden Wright and Kobe Krenz have been mostly excellent on the offensive end but struggled from the field last week. The recent play from Tallon Klatt (10 points, six rebounds and 11 points, 15 rebounds) and Jayden Hocker (12 ppg in last two games) is important.
Grand Forks Red River
The Roughriders were off last week and will take on West Fargo Sheyenne at the end of this upcoming week. A team seemingly gaining steam, Grand Forks Red River has the potential to either challenge for a top-two spot in the EDC and realistically gain a stranglehold on a top-three position in the league.
Bismarck Century
The Patriots earned an excellent win last week, beating Bismarck Legacy in contested fashion. It was Cade Feeney and friends as the star senior guard scored 33 of the team’s 66 points, while adding five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Mandan
The Braves split a pair of games last week, losing to top-ranked Jamestown by two before blowing out Watford City. The big development for them has been the return of Jaxton Wiest, who averaged 10 points and five assists per game last week. With some of those younger wings like Jayce Lowman and Tyler Thilmony showing improvement along with Elijah Klein continuing to produce double-doubles, the Braves could ascend as the season goes along.
Devils Lake
The Firebirds lost to West Fargo Sheyenne last week. It would sure be hard to blame Grant Nelson though. The 6-foot-9 senior big man went for 23 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals and eight (!!!) blocks.
