Here are this week’s Top-10 teams in Class A:
Fargo Davies
The Eagles stay in the No. 1 spot after making easy work of Wahpeton last week. Cam Van Dam has been a stat-stuffer and is the engine on both ends of the floor. The Eagles are the deepest team in the state, getting solid contributions from Cole Hage, Owen Hekner, Grayson Haman, Ty Satter and even guys like Mason Bitz and Justice Noel.
West Fargo Sheyenne
The Mustangs made simiarly quick work of Wahpeton on New Year’s Eve and are undefeated on the season. Blake Berg and Tyler Terhark have powered a balanced offense and the team’s defense is much-improved from a year ago. The game with Fargo Davies this upcoming week is going to be huge.
Minot
The Magicians cruised to a win over Watford City, getting 19 points, five rebounds and four assists from Deonte Martinez and 15 points on five made 3-pointers from Tucker Olson. Minot might have the most top-to-bottom talent in the state.
Jamestown
After shooting just 9-for-29 in a loss to Minot, Boden Skunberg scored 35 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while shooting 12-for-21 in a win over Bismarck Century last week. Keith Levin added 12 points and 12 rebounds as the Bluejays got back on the winning side of things.
Dickinson
The Midgets took care of Bismarck Legacy last week, getting a double-double from big man Tallon Klatt along with double-figure scoring performances from Jaiden Wright and Kobe Krenz. Wright has been outstanding early in the year and the Midgets’ only loss to this point was the first game of the year to Bismarck Century.
Bismarck Century
Bismarck Century lost to Jamestown last week and are 4-3 on the year. Cade Feeney was good, going from 28 points on 10-for-21 shooting but the complementary guys have still been hit or miss.
Bismarck Legacy
The Sabers lost to Dickinson last week, struggling mightily on the offensive end of the floor. Rhett Clements missed another game and without him, Legacy doesn’t have the same kind of juice.
Grand Forks Red River
The Roughriders crushed Devils Lake week, as four players scored double-figures. Brady Dvorak led the way with 22 points and six assists and Kobe Springer, Cole Benson and Bryce Enerson combined to add 39 points. If Will Obioha can come back and be a difference-maker, this team can join the elites in the EDC.
Mandan
The Braves haven’t played since December 27 and are 4-3 on the season. If Mandan can get fully healthy, it’s dangerous in the WDA. Elijah Klein has been a force when available and Jayce Lowman has come along really nicely on the wing.
Devils Lake
The Firebirds were run out of the gym by Grand Forks Red River without Grant Nelson but rebounded to beat West Fargo last week and are 4-3 on the year. Nelson has been a force on both ends of the floor and Devils Lake is getting solid complementary play from guys like Ben Heilman and Joey Frelich.
