Teams are working their way back into full swing after the holiday break. Most teams will soon be jumping into the region play portion of their schedules and with so many teams off to strong starts, there are bound to be exciting matchups on a weekly basis.
Here are this week’s top games to watch:
Bismarck Century at Bismark, 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 7
Two of the top teams with completely different styles of play duke it out for WDA positioning. The Demons want to play fast. They press, they trap, they look for early offense and they can fill it up like few teams in the state can. The Patriots are on the other end of the pace spectrum, using a methodical tempo to grind teams into the ground. They play terrific defense and lean on Cade Feeney to provide consistent scoring and playmaking.
Minot at Mandan, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 7
The battle in the paint is going to be a good one here as Elijah Klein leads Mandan in scoring and rebounding while the Magicians have an excellent frontcourt anchored by Easton Larson. Of course, the Magicians also have arguably the best backcourt in the state with Deonte Martinez and Jaxon Gunville too. If the Braves can slow the game down and pound things inside to Klein, this one has a chance to be a lot of fun.
West Fargo Sheyenne at Fargo Davies, 7:30 p.m., Friday, January 10
The game of the week without doubt. No. 1 Fargo Davies and No. 2 West Fargo Sheyenne get together for what amounts to a leg up in the EDC race. Both teams have crushed the competition early on and have shown no signs of weakness. Both teams are big, athletic, deep and excellent on both ends of the floor. The matchups on the wing should be terrific as Blake Berg and Tyler Terhark have been superb for the Mustangs while Owen Hektner, Cole Hage and Grayson Haman all average double-figures in scoring for the Eagles.
