Nelson Division
Staley, Center, Rockhurst, Grandview, Blue Springs South, Central, Oak Park, Fort Osage
Jamaal Davis, 6’6, 2021, Staley
Davis had a big performance in Staley’s championship win over Grandview as he used his size to feel for position and capitalized as a defender and from the free throw line. Davis was active on both ends of the floor and had two steals and a couple defensive rebounds. He finished the game with 10 points and was 4-6 from the free throw line.
Devin Tomlinson, F, 2021, Blue Springs South
The leader and all-around player for Blue Springs South had a strong showing at William Jewell. He’s a hard-working player who looks to contribute on both ends of the floor and can sequre rebounds at a high level. Also a standout offensive player for his team who has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders. A player who can hit shots in a variety of ways. Tomlinson was named a Nelson Division All Star and averaged 12.7 points per game and had 28 rebounds.
Kendrick Stone, 6’2, G, 2021, Staley
Stone is a strong, well-built athlete who has good speed and the ability to score, but looks to make plays as a defender and facilitator. Stone is a difficult player to slow down when he’s knocking down shots as he has strong athleticism and good size and handles. Stone finished with nine points, three steals and three assists against Center and had a game-high four steals against Grandview in the championship game.
Keyren Spiller, 6’4, G/F, 2021, Center
Spiller once again led his team in scoring 15 points and also lead with eight rebounds in their close loss to Staley. A versatile, big-bodied combo forward that plays physical inside, but has the ability to step out and make plays along the perimeter. Spiller looked strong on the post and made several athletic plays which showcased his strength and overall agility.
Guerchon Maxi, 2020, Center
Maxi continues to set the tone with his defense. He’s an intelligent player who makes great decisions in full court situations. Maxi has good hands and can pick off steals and finish in transition. He also looked sharp from the free throw line, connecting all three attempts and was active on the boards. He finished with 10 points in the semifinals.
