Antonio Patterson (Oakland)
Bizarre leg power. Guards the opposing center despite standing only 6-foot-1.
Will Montana (M.B.A.)
Simply special. In the open floor Will was charging with hopes of scoring in transition. As he was busy collecting a steal to begin, two players provided staunch resistance. Undeterred Montana slowed his left-handed dribble and smoothly bounced a pass to a streaking teammate for an easy two. The fluidity of the still growing guard is frightening. Montana appears to be 6-foot-5 by now and his potential is scary. There isn’t much Montana can’t do and his biggest “mistake” all day was hanging on the rim too long after finishing an alley-oop. So what.
Weston Coop (Webb-Bell Buckle)
Weston is a rotation player for Webb and his contributions are not asked for much. In his eight minutes of action Weston scored just three points and they were vital. Trailing late, in need of some quick points, The Webb School Head Coach Jeff Mitchell inserted Coop to score from deep. It worked wonderfully. Coop nailed an open three-pointer from the corner. Coop is a sophomore.
Joshua Roberts (M.B.A.)
The best perimeter defending forward in the state? It is odd to see how nimble and committed Roberts is when he is drawn out high on defense. The technique is impeccable and the emotional investment is wonderful.
Jordan Jenkins (Webb-Bell Buckle)
Power guard Jordan Jenkins finished with 23 points and six rebounds. The fantastically athletic and also physically imposing guard is very deserving of his #45 ranking and deserves consideration for a significant climb when the rankings update shortly. Decision-making and ball-handling are weaknesses. He committed 7 turnovers in a game that needed precision.
