Kian Scroggins-Jordan Jermain (Raymore Peculiar): These two 2020 standouts have made Ray-Pec one of the top teams in the Kansas City area and a bonafide contender in the Class 5 ranks this season. The 6’8″ Scroggins is a Sam Houston State signee who has been a force in the paint, averaging 17.9 points and 12.1 rebounds while shooting 56 percent from the field. The 6’2″ Jermain has been one of the top guards in the KC area after missing most of last season with an injury. He has returned with a vengeance as he averages 19.2 points, four assists, and three steals while shooting 47 percent from 3-point range.
Ryan Kalkbrenner-Rashad Weekly (Trinity): The two teammates are both headed to the Division I level. The 7’0″ Kalkbrenner is headed to Creighton while the 6’0″ Weekly has signed with Central Michigan. Kalkbrenner is an inside force who is averaging 16.3 points, 10.9 rebounds and 5.7 blocks while shooting 66 percent from the field. The 6’0″ Weekly is averaging 17.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game. He has enjoyed some big performances on the biggest stages, including a 36-point effort against Mehlville at the Highland Shootout.
Taj Manning-Reggie Morris (Grandview): These two standouts helped lead Grandview to the Class 4 state championship a year ago. The 6’7″ Manning is one of the top 2022 prospects in the state with his versatile post game and skill set. He is currently averaging 16.6 points a game. He can score in the post or step out and knock down jumpers. The 6’2″ Morris is averaging 14 points and two steals a game while knocking down 35 percent of his 3-pointers. The Air Force commit has been a big part of two consecutive state championships.
Chase Farnan-Clayton Merrigan (Platte Valley): One of the top inside-outside duos in the small-school ranks around the state, these two standouts led Conception Junction Jefferson to the Class 1 state championship a year ago. The 6’6″ Farnan is a long and lanky post player with smooth moves inside and a nice shooting touch. He scored 30 points in the state championship victory over Dora a year ago and has been playing well this season. The 6’3″ Merrigan is a do-it-all wing player who scores, rebounds, handles the ball and plays excellent defense. He is also an excellent 3-point shooter who comes through in clutch situations.
Ike Ezeogu-Braden Applehans (Blue Springs): One of the youngest and most talented inside-outside duos as they are both in the Class of 2022, but are having very productive seasons for Blue Springs. The 6’5″ Ezeogu is an active power forward who plays with a high motor. He is currently averaging 16 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 65 percent from the field. The 6’4″ Applehans is a long and slender wing player with a smooth lefty stroke from the perimeter. He is averaging 18 points a game while shooting 38 percent from 3-point range and 88 percent from the free throw line.
