Sam Burdette – 2021 – SG – Milton
Burdette had 26 points in the win. The junior guard got himself going early with a couple steals that led to transition baskets as well as some catch-and-shoot triples. Burdette did a great job of feeding off Jack Campion all night. When Campion got into the paint, Burdette would relocate and make himself available on the wing. Burdette also hit a clutch jab-step, pull-up 3-pointer late in the second half that helped Milton put the game away.
Jack Campion – 2022 – PG – Milton
Campion put together maybe the best individual performance I’ve seen this season. The sophomore guard was in his bag and there wasn’t a thing Monroe could do about it. Campion not only went for 39 points, but had around 10 assists as Milton put together an outstanding offensive display. Campion scored 29 of his 39 points after halftime. Putting a ton of pressure on the Cheesemakers, Campion was getting into the paint at will where he could then either beat the help-side defense to the bucket or kick out to open 3-pointer shooters. Lightning in a bottle, Campion is arguably the fastest player in the state with the ball in his hands. He’s got terrific handles and constantly breaks down defenders. When he’s also hitting jumpers, Campion becomes a nightmare to defend as the opposition can no longer give him an extra cushion. Campion just absolutely took over the game Thursday night as Milton was completely comfortable putting the ball in his hands and getting out of the way.
Carson Leuzinger – 2022 – G – Monroe
Leuzinger had the hot hand early and then again late to make things interesting. The lefty is such a smooth offensive player that can create off the bounce and loves to pull-up from mid-range. While he’s only about 5-foot-11, Leuzinger displayed some toughness and willingness to attack the rim, draw contact, and finish around the basket and/or get to the free throw line. Most defenders know Leuzinger wants to crossover and pull-up going to his right, but he sells it so well that defenders still bite. Having a breakout sophomore campaign, Leuzinger is up around 18 ppg for the year.
Cade Meyer – 2021 – F – Monroe
Meyer was very efficient from the field, but foul trouble and Milton’s zone defense never really allowed him to get in a rhythm. Regardless, Meyer scored 21 points and continued to flash his high offensive upside. The junior forward scored from all three levels and had back-to-back dunks in the first half. The 6-foot-8 forward continues to look very intriguing. Defensively, if he can be more of a force and improve as a rebounder, high major schools are going to have a hard time saying ‘no.’
J.T. Seagreaves – 2022 – F – Monroe
This is a prospect that’s getting better and better and has made some strong gains since July. Seagreaves showed promise in a variety of ways on Thursday, taking bigs off the dribble, pinning and sealing his man down low, stretching the floor from 3-point range, and making good passes in the high-low game. Scoring 18 points, Seagreaves once again turned a lot of heads with his combo forward potential. At 6-foot-6, Seagreaves can put the ball on the deck and even showed some strong capablity to shoot off the dribble and knock down consted shots from mid-range. Also a terrific athlete, Seagreaves has a lot of bounce and plays above the rim with ease.
