2021 PF Kyle Ross
Transferring from Andrean (IN) to Lake Central (IN)
This is the more well-known of the transfers as he has only played one game with Andrean this year, the first game of the season. Rumors were about with where he may have ended up but he’s at Lake Central where his older brother attended school. Based on a report out of northern Indiana, he will be eligible to finish out this season once he gets his practices in. This obviously has hurt Andrean as he was their top returning scorer from a year previous and has the talent that has attracted low and mid-major colleges. It is also a swing in 4A as Lake Central, if the report is accurate, will now get a true post scorer who can step out and shoot at a high level on their roster when they already looked like a team that could make noise in March.
2021 SG Cameron Banks
Transferring from Evansville Central (IN) to Heritage Hills (IN)
This one got out this week as rumors began Monday and into Tuesday that former Evansville Central standout, Cameron Banks, had left Central and enrolled at Heritage Hills. The reason to this transfer is still unknown but this is a big coup for Heritage Hills regardless of when he gets eligible. Mid-season transfers from public school to public school usually don’t go quickly so the most likely scenario is the 365 rule which would have him ready for after Christmas Break next season. For Evansville Central, they lose their obvious top player who was their primary ball handler as well. Heritage Hills, assuming his eligibility gets kicked in next season, will have a replacement for outgoing seniors Murray Becher and Simon Scherry on the perimeter to pair with junior Blake Sisley and give them one more year of a run in 3A.
2020 PG Kai Steinman
Transferring from Ben Davis (IN) to Aspire Academy (KY)
Following last night’s Ben Davis-Franklin Central game, we learned that Ben Davis senior guard Kai Steinman had left school and was transferring out of state. Found out today that he has since enrolled at Aspire Academy, a prep school in Kentucky. This is a blow to Ben Davis who, while not being quite as loaded as the past two season, was still looking to get back deep in the tournament. They are deep at guard so this is not as big of a loss but he is a very talented player for them. He should have pretty much immediate eligibility as transferring to a Prep School, there are not really any governing bodies so there are no rules. Loss for the state as he was one of our Top 30 players in the senior class.
