The scales might tilt a bit if a different team wins state but it looks like there is a clear cut favorite. A few more players have emerged as candidates.
6’7 Dyson Kohler (Jordan High School)
There is only one more player in all of of 6A that has tailed more pints this year than Dyson. The Cal Poly Signee hopes to add to the load he is currently carrying. he’s putting up 20 points a game and 10 rebounds. He’s also hit 23 three-pointers this year. Dyson will be around 1,700 points when it’s all said and done. Might need to win state to have a better shot at Mr. Basketball.
6’4 PG Mason Falslev (Sky View)
Mason could reach 1,900 points in his career. The Utah Signee is on a tare. He makes the game look so easy. Mason and his team are favored to repeat as State Champions in 4A and he has a realistic shot at taking the Mr. Basketball Honors. He has the signature games and dunks. If he has one more huge game he could really make the strongest case for this prestigious award.
6’4 PG Dalllin Hall (Fremont High School)
Dallin has the upper hand when it comes to the Mr. Basketball race and all he has to do win it is win state. The problem is that there are some teams that are good and looking to knock them off. Davis got the best og Fremont despite a 30 point game from Hall. Dallin will be close to 1,500 points by the end of the season. He is a Division 1 guard that is electric in all aspects of the game.
Others:
6’8 Ethan Potter (Layton High School)
The Junior big is something else but as he is finally turning heads as a junior it might be a bit too late. He is going to have to be magical the rest of the way and win it all.
6’1 Mark Huber (Bear River High School)
Mark will be really close to hitting 1,500 points. The kid can score but he is a long shot but is someone that can really play.
